She Stole My Bloodline, My Alpha, And My Death Sentence Chapter 01

The night Elara stole my bloodline, my Alpha mate, and my future, she thought she had won.

What she did not know was that she had also stolen my death sentence.

I am the hybrid descendant of a Moon Goddess heir and an Alpha King. My blood gave me gifts, prestige, hunting instincts, and the pull that draws an Alpha to his fated mate.

But blessings and curses are two sides of the same coin. I also carried the Silver Moon Curse.

The curse worsened with every waxing moon. The brighter the moonlight, the harder my blood burned. On the night of the full moon, my heart would feel like it was being seared by silver flame until it finally consumed me from the inside out.

The next full moon was the day the curse would reach its peak and kill me.

But then I overheard a conversation between Elara and the witch.

“Are you sure you want to initiate the bloodline exchange with Phoebe?”

Elara screamed like a woman possessed. “Exchange! All of it! I want her noble bloodline! Her Alpha mate! Her future! Everything she has!”

I did not stop her. I held my breath and waited.

The next second, my soul became weightless, as if every chain that had ever bound me had simply dissolved.

Elara was cheering on the spot. “I now possess the most powerful blessing of the Moon Goddess!”

I had spent three years begging the Moon Goddess to save me.

Elara accomplished what the Goddess never did.

She took the curse with her.

During Hunt Week, Elara ranked first among all warriors with the most kills.

When the Beta read her results aloud, the crowd erupted.

An Omega who had always lingered at the bottom of the leaderboard had nearly shattered the all-time hunting record. Her kill count was double that of the second-place finisher.

Meanwhile, my results were unremarkable. Overnight, I had gone from a prestigious heir of the Alpha King to a sheltered princess with nothing to show for herself.

Elara did not celebrate loudly.

Instead, she sat on a tree stump, staring at her medal, looking almost uneasy.

She walked up to me with reddened eyes, still holding a training dagger in her hand.

“Phoebe, I’m sorry.” There was a trace of guilt in her voice.

“I don’t know what happened to me. Training just suddenly got so much easier. Everything feels simple now. Before, I could never figure out how to find an animal’s weak point, but now it’s like they’re all moving in slow motion.”

“I really didn’t mean to steal your spotlight.”

A few warriors who obviously had crushes on her gathered around, rushing to comfort her.

“Elara, don’t be silly. You earned this.”

“Yeah, you just finally came into your own. You were holding back this whole time, that’s all.”

She turned around and grabbed my hand with perfect ease, her voice full of warm, earnest concern.

“Phoebe, let me give you this dagger. It’s been working really well for me lately. I know you used to be better than me, but now that I’m ahead, the least I can do is help you catch up.”

The warriors chimed in again. “Elara is seriously the sweetest. Phoebe, take it already!”

She held the dagger out to me. A little bow was tied around the handle, and a sticky note was attached that read: [For our Moonlight Princess.]

The meaning was obvious. She was mocking me, telling me the only reason I had ever gotten any attention was because of the Moon Goddess’s blessing, and now that blessing belonged to her.

I smiled brightly. “Thank you, Elara. That’s really thoughtful of you.”

I meant every word.

Elara clearly had not expected that reaction. The smile froze on her face.

“I’m glad you can take it in stride. I was worried you’d get depressed over one Hunt Week.”

She squeezed my hand again. The tips of her fingers were turning purple.

She thought it was a sign of the Moon Goddess’s blessing. Only I knew it was the first symptom of the Silver Moon Curse.
