No Longer the Alpha’s Guardian Chapter 05

No Longer the Alpha’s Guardian Chapter 05

When I got back to the pack house with my things, there was luggage in the living room that wasn’t mine.

The servants all had their heads down, mouths shut.

And there were new faces I’d never seen before.

Until the woman upstairs threw my blankets down. “These are ugly. I don’t like them. Change everything.”

That’s when I saw her.

Kelly. In my house.

“Well, well. Luna Audrey is back.”

She raised an eyebrow, her red lips curving into a nasty smile. “No, actually—at home, I should call you by your name. Audrey.”

“What are you doing in my room? Do you have no manners? You don’t touch other people’s things.”

My face went cold. I knew Elijah would bring her here eventually. But this fast?

“I’m just cleaning up. If you don’t like it, come clean it yourself. Otherwise I’m throwing everything out.”

She turned and went back upstairs.

I followed.

The bedroom was destroyed. Kelly stood at my vanity, picking up a bottle of perfume.

“This scent… it’s unique.”

“That’s mine. Put it down.”

“I heard Elijah gave you a one-of-a-kind perfume after the pack was stable and the company was up and running. This must be it.”

She smiled.

Before I could answer, she smashed the bottle against the mirror.

Glass shattered. Perfume exploded through the air.

My wolf surged under my skin. I couldn’t hold it back.

“Kelly!”

I lunged and slapped her so hard my claws left marks.

“Can you not understand English? I said don’t touch my things.”

“You hit me?” Kelly clutched her cheek, glaring. “Audrey, you pathetic abandoned Luna. Elijah is about to sever the bond with you. What do you have to be proud of?”

“In Elijah’s eyes, you’re old and ugly. You’re boring in bed. He’s so sick of you he can’t even get it up. Can’t you tell? Pack your crap and get out, or else—”

She glanced out the window. Saw Elijah’s car.

Her smile came back.

“I won’t say another word. But I’m going to make you pay for that slap right now.”

She grabbed a shard of glass from the floor.

And slashed it across her own face.

Blood sprayed warm across my cheek.

“Are you insane?”

“Guess who Elijah will believe—you or me?”

Then she started crying.

“Luna Audrey, I’m so sorry! I know I shouldn’t be here. Please don’t hurt me! I’ll leave right now, I promise!”

She backed into a corner, tears and blood mixing on her face, looking pathetic and ruined.

“What are you doing?”

The door slammed open.

Elijah rushed in, saw Kelly’s bloody face, and roared.

“Audrey!”

He lunged at me and wrapped his hand around my throat.

“How dare you lay a hand on Kelly! Was the punishment I gave you

today not enough? Do you want me to kill you?”

I couldn’t breathe. “Let—go—”

“Elijah, stop! Luna Audrey has every right to be angry. It’s all my fault!”

Kelly was shaking, tears streaming down her face. She looked so pitiful.

Elijah lost it. He threw me against the wall.

My back cracked. I tried to explain, but he was already calling the guards.

“Restrain her.”

“Let me go, Elijah. Who do you believe—her or me?”

“Of course I believe Kelly. Didn’t I tell you? However you treat her is how I’ll treat you.”

He turned to Kelly, soft and gentle. “Don’t be afraid. I’ll get you back. Tell me what she did.”

“Forget it. Let’s just drop it. It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have moved in before we sealed the bond. I was impatient.”

Kelly sniffled. “So when Luna Audrey called me a man-stealing bitch and cut my face with the glass… I deserved it.”

“She cut your face with glass.”

Elijah’s voice went low. He turned to glare at me.

“Audrey. What do you have to say for yourself?”

I laughed. “Believe what you want. I didn’t do it. She did it to herself. I never touched her.”

“Luna Audrey, how can you lie like that? You slapped me too. The mark is still there!”

Elijah saw the red handprint on her cheek. That was it. He snapped.

He picked up a shard of glass. Took Kelly’s hand. Walked toward me.
