Before the Wedding, the Dutiful Bride Flew to Iceland Alone Chapter 07

The moment those words left my mouth, Miles dropped to his knees.

It was freezing.

His knees hit the frozen ground hard.

“Chloe, I was wrong.”

“I’ll never see Serena again.”

“I’ll delete every message.”

“We’ll redo the wedding,”

“Anything you want. I’ll make it happen.”

“Just come back. Please.”

The crew watched from a distance.

Someone moved to step in, but I shook my head.

I looked at Miles, on his knees in front of me.

There was no anger left. No pain either.

Just the quiet that comes when something is finally over.

“Miles.”

“You couldn’t give me what I needed back then.” “Now that I don’t need it anymore, you don’t have

to try.”

He looked up at me, his face crumpling.

“But I love you.”

“I really do love you…”

“Then let’s just say we loved each other, and leave it at that.”

My voice was quiet.

“I loved you too.”

“But this is where it ends.”

I stepped around him and walked into the hotel.

Miles reached for me.

The crew held him back.

He stayed on his knees in the snow, calling my name.

“Chloe!”

“Chloe!”

“Just turn around! Please!” I didn’t, and the glass doors slid shut behind me.

The wind and snow swallowed his voice.

In the days that followed, Miles didn’t leave.

He stood outside the hotel every morning.

He sent camellias, hot coffee, heavy scarves.

I didn’t accept a single one.

The front desk sent the flowers back.

The coffee went cold at my door.

The scarves came back to him untouched.

A week later, Serena showed up in Snowcrest.

When she tracked me down, her eyes were raw and red.

“Chloe, what the hell are you trying to do?”

“You’re really not going to forgive him?”

I was sorting through footage when I looked up at her.

“Serena.”

“Don’t flatter yourself.”

“Me not wanting Miles doesn’t mean I’m handing him over to you.”

“What happens to him now has nothing to do with me.”

Serena’s face went rigid.

“Who are you putting on this show for?” “You’re obviously doing this to get back at me.”

I closed my laptop and stood up.

“I’m not getting revenge on you.”

“I’m just done playing along.”

I walked past her.

I heard later that Serena and Miles blew up at each other in front of the hotel. She was crying and

screaming at him.

“Didn’t you say Chloe was too sensible to leave?”

“Didn’t you say you stopped feeling anything for her a long time ago?”

“Then who is this pathetic act for?” Miles didn’t explain.

He said one thing.

“Serena, don’t come near me again.”

Serena lost it and threw everything he’d ever given her into the snow.

The designer bag, the one worth ten times the earrings, landed in the snow.

But none of that was my story anymore.

A month later, my first Snowcrest documentary went live.

The footage showed snowfields, frost valleys, and the northern lights.

And there was me, standing in front of the camera for the first time, smiling as I introduced myself.

“I’m Chloe.” “Right now, I’m in Snowcrest.”
