The Love Missing From Summer Chapter 11

The Love Missing From Summer Chapter 11

I was not interested. I gave my coworker a few polite responses and hung up.

Later, Briar Sutton somehow got my number.

She called me again, sobbing.

“Tessa, I was wrong. I’m sorry. I’m really sorry!”

“I’m begging you. Can you say something for me? Can you explain…”

“No. You brought this on yourself.”

I knew she was not truly repentant.

I did not bother wasting words. I blocked her immediately.

Later, I heard Briar Sutton was fired.

Her major mistake spread through the industry, and she faced constant rejection trying to find work.

She could not make it in Austin anymore.

The cost of living was high, and she had taken on a lot of debt.

In the end, she slunk back to her parents’ house.

I was not surprised that Briar ended up that way.

A thief was always a thief.

Some things could never be stolen.

After that, Briar Sutton disappeared from my life.

Silas Whitcomb stopped pestering me too.

He vanished from my life for a long time.

Once my job stabilized, my mom started urging me to meet people again.

I could not outargue her, so I downloaded a dating app and agreed to the occasional coffee date.

That day, I waited in a coffee shop for a long time.

The app date finally arrived late.

I had already picked up my bag.

But I forced myself to sit back down.

His name was Greg.

He looked very different from his photo.

Greg sat down and looked me up and down without any attempt at politeness.

“Ms. Calder, right? You’re pretty.”

“I heard you wasted four years on an ex. I’m in a hurry to settle down too.”

“If you’re with me, you won’t have to work anymore. Isn’t that nice?”

“Have kids early. Stay home and take care of them. That’s all.”

My smile disappeared, and I stood coldly.

“Sorry, Greg. I don’t think we’re a good fit.”

His expression turned ugly.

“Who are you trying to impress? The app said you’re fresh out of a long relationship.”

“You should be glad a high-value man like me is willing to settle down with you, and you’re still pretending you’re too good for me…”

Someone lunged from behind me.

Before I could react, Greg was already on the floor.

He spat out a tooth and kept groaning.

I stood there stunned.

It was Silas Whitcomb.

He shielded me behind him and looked coldly at the man on the floor.

“Trash like you never has anything decent to say.”

Greg called 911.

Silas was arrested for assault and had to post bail to get out the next morning. He refused to apologize.

Later on, he had to agree to an eight-thousand-dollar out-of-court settlement.

It kept Greg from dragging him into an expensive civil lawsuit.

I was the one who picked Silas up when he was released.

“I didn’t get a chance to ask you. How did you just happen to be there that day?”

Silas’s dark eyes held only my reflection.

“I resigned and moved here two months ago.”

“I know you like that coffee shop, so I waited there almost every day.”

He laughed at himself.

“And somehow I never ran into you once.”

“Until that day. What he said was too disgusting. I couldn’t stand it.”

I froze.

At that time, I had an urgent project.

Every day, I went straight from home to work and from work to home.

I frowned.

“Don’t do things like that just to move yourself. It means nothing.”

“You’re an adult. Can you stop being so impulsive?”
