He Said Don’t Wait, So I Married Someone Else Chapter 32

She let out a sharp, ugly laugh. “Don’t be. I had it coming.” She turned her venomous gaze to Noah. “But I have what you need. Garrett is planning to ruin you, Maya. He’s paying off friends to testify that you’ve always been unstable, that you’re delusional, that this marriage was a trap you set.”
Noah’s expression was grim. “Do you have evidence?”
Sloane pulled a cheap burner phone from her purse and tossed it on the table. “Every conversation is recorded on here. The whole plan. Who he’s paying, what he wants them to say. He said he was going to make sure you could never show your face in Charleston again.”
I stared at the phone, my stomach twisting. “Why are you doing this?”
“Because when I needed him, he chose his family’s reputation,” she said, each word dripping with poison. “Just like he always chose something, anything, over you.”
With a chipped fingernail, she pushed the phone toward us. “Take it. Consider it… my wedding present.”
Noah picked up the phone, his eyes sharp and assessing. “What do you want in return?”
“Nothing.”
