He Laughed at My Tears, Now He Cries Alone Chapter 13

He gave a single, sharp glance to the assistant beside him, and the man understood immediately.

The Lawson and Vance families were about to have a very bad week.

I said nothing and walked straight inside.

Adrian followed close behind me.

After I changed and came back out, I could hear Adrian on the phone.

On the other end, I could just make out the sound of Derek and Tiffany’s screams.

I felt nothing.

The moment he gave up on me, I had severed that connection completely.

“Claire, are you feeling better?”

I walked to the wine cabinet and pulled out a very expensive bottle of red wine.

“Yes.”

“These are just scratches.”

I had grown up surrounded by inheritance battles and backstabbing schemes.

I had suffered far worse wounds than this.

I poured Adrian a glass.

When he took it, he smoothly caught my wrist and pulled me into his arms.

“Will you give me a chance this time?”

I glanced up at him.

He lowered his head and kissed me without a trace of hesitation.

Three minutes later, I raised a hand and gently pushed him away.

A rare smile touched Adrian’s lips.

“I rarely see you blush.”

I smiled back.

“And I rarely see you this gentle.”

He ran a number of businesses that operated in the shadows.

So did I.

We had always been rivals.

But over the years, fate had a funny way of pulling the few of us to the same table, time and time again.
