He Laughed at My Tears, Now He Cries Alone Chapter 10

“Who are you calling provincial?”

Tiffany snorted.

“You’re Claire’s friend, so you can’t be anyone important.”

“These bodyguards are probably just hired muscle you called at the last minute.”

“If you were really powerful, someone would have heard of you by now.”

As soon as she finished, I stood up.

I was still dwarfed by the oversized coat.

“I’ve never been one for explanations.”

“I prefer to let people see the results for themselves.”

Just then, several large, sealed boxes were carried in from outside.

“Miss Monroe.”

When the boxes were set on the floor, the lids were still rattling, as if whatever was inside was packed so tightly it was about to burst out.

Tiffany stared at the boxes, her face instantly changing.

“Claire Monroe, what are you doing?”

“What’s in there?”

The men who had been laughing moments before fell silent.

I looked at her.

“Cockroaches.”

“Didn’t I say it?”

“I’m going to make you two bastards swallow cockroaches.”

“You remind me of my stepsister.”

“But you’re not nearly as ruthless as she was.”

“She couldn’t break me. Don’t think for a second that you can.”

“So, care to guess what happens to you next?”

Once they knew the boxes were full of cockroaches, both Tiffany and Derek went white.

Derek raised a hand and pointed at me.

“Claire Monroe, you wouldn’t dare.”

I stepped onto one of the boxes and looked down on him.

“You started this.”

“I’m just returning the favor.”

“What’s the problem?”
