He Laughed at My Tears, Now He Cries Alone Chapter 09

Morgan’s fiery red hair was impossible to miss.

The men in the room glanced at her, then quickly looked away.

No one dared to hold her gaze for more than a second.

“Claire.”

“This is the man you chose?”

Morgan’s eyes swept over Derek, her face a mask of disgust.

“Even Adrian Cross is a better man than him.”

Being called useless in front of so many people was a direct hit to Derek’s pride.

“Who are you calling useless, you red-headed freak?”

Morgan didn’t even bother to look at him again.

“The useless one who just opened his mouth.”

“Yes, I mean you.”

“With this many people in the room, you’re the only one dumb enough to volunteer to die first.”

“You’re asking for it.”

Derek clenched his fists and charged, aiming a punch at Morgan.

She didn’t retreat a single step. She simply sidestepped his clumsy swing, raised her leg, and kicked him hard, sending him stumbling back to Tiffany’s feet.

All the other men shut their mouths.

Even their breathing grew shallow.

Relying on the fact that this was her turf, Tiffany was still defiant.

“So what if I called you a red-headed freak?”

“This is New York.”

“This is our territory.”

“I don’t care how tough you are. Here, you follow our rules.”

*Clap.*

*Clap.*

*Clap.*

Morgan smiled and clapped three times, slow and deliberate.

She looked at Tiffany as if she were a mildly amusing pet.

“Quite the attitude.”

“This little island has made you all so provincial you’ve forgotten there’s a world outside of it.”
