He Spent Three Years Hating the Woman He Loved Chapter 07

The day before my departure to New Horizon, Julian abruptly showed up outside my mother’s house.

He was holding a massive bouquet of white roses—the exact flowers I had adored during our college years.

The moment I opened the front door, he dropped to his knees with a heavy thud.

“Elena, I beg you… please just listen to me explain…” his voice cracked, his eyes heavily bloodshot.

I looked down at him coldly. “Stand up, Julian.”

He looked up, tears streaming down his face. “Elena, please don’t shut me out. Regarding Chloe… she doesn’t actually love me. The moment you broke up with me and left, she completely pushed me away! She’s addicted to the thrill of forbidden toxicity, that’s all! Please come back to me!”

I watched him weep. He was finally crying for me, but all I saw looking at his face was three years of cold calculations, deep-seated emotional neglect, and casual cruelty.

I smiled slightly. “Julian, I found your secret burner Twitter accounts. I saw every single word of your digital pining. Using me as a pawn to provoke her jealousy was a brilliant strategy, wasn’t it?”

“Let it go. And never show your face near me again.”

Panicking, he lunged forward and desperately wrapped his arms around my legs. “Elena! We’ve been together for so long! You can’t just discard me like this!”

I raised my foot and firmly kicked him away from me. “You calculated against me from the first day we met. When you two were digitally flirting behind my back, my feelings never crossed your mind.”

I knelt down, matching his gaze with absolute coldness. “Give me one valid reason why I should ever extend forgiveness to a parasite?”

Julian’s tears fell uncontrollably onto the concrete. But this time, I felt absolutely nothing but mild revulsion.

I stood up, stepped back inside, and slammed the door shut.

Through the window, I watched him leave, leaving the expensive bouquet of white roses stuffed unceremoniously into the porch trash bin.

I moved to New Horizon City.

During my first week at Professor Montgomery’s agency, my maiden assignment was pitching the spring global campaign for a luxury heritage brand. The creative budget was exactly eight million dollars.

I worked myself to the bone, frequently staying at my desk until three in the morning, but I felt an electrical surge of genuine happiness everyday.

Professor Montgomery observed me during a coffee break one afternoon and smiled. “Elena, you’ve lost some weight, but the fire in

your eyes is completely back.”

I smiled, taking a sip of my espresso. “Professor, for the past three years, I was living with my eyes completely closed.”

During my second week, Chloe managed to track down my new number.

“Elena! I went to your mother’s house, but she told me you had already left the city,” her voice came through the receiver, frantic and breathless. “You blocked my main number, and I had to buy a burner SIM just to reach you. How could you be so heartless as to abandon me like this?!”

I let out a sharp laugh. “Chloe, save your theatrical white-lotus act. I am not going to repeat what I told Julian.”

“If you or your pathetic ex-lover ever attempt to contact me again, I won’t hesitate to take the screenshots of your burner Twitter accounts and your routine check-ins on Julian’s location and blast them directly to our alumni network group chat. Let’s see how your pristine social reputation survives when everyone sees what kind of trash you truly are. If you want to lose all public dignity, keep calling.”

“Elena, I’m sorry! It was all my fault—” Chloe gasped in absolute panic and slammed the phone down.

Within an hour, both of their secret burner accounts were completely wiped clean. But I had already backed up every single screenshot to a secure cloud drive. If they ever stepped out of line, I would ruin them without a second thought.

The next time I received news regarding them was six months later.

My old college roommate, Harper, called me out of the blue.

“Elena, you won’t believe what happened yesterday. Chloe was taken away by the police,” Harper’s voice shook with manic excitement. “She completely lost her mind at the precinct, screaming and biting like a rabid animal.”
