The Alpha’s Wrong Luna Chapter 03

The Alpha’s Wrong Luna Chapter 03

The snow stopped, the sky cleared. The ice on the Moon Scar River was thick as hell.

Seline pulled on her thick deerskin boots and asked me to go out.

“Lucien’s just getting over being sick, and you’re always dragging your sister out?”

Mom scolded her from the yard, handing me a thick cloak.

Seline wrapped it around me and laughed, pulling me out the door.

“Don’t worry, Ma. I’m just getting Lucien some fresh air. She’s fragile, I know. I won’t let her catch a chill.”

Mom cursed her under her breath with a smile: “That’s exactly why I’m worried. You can’t sit still for one single day.”

By the Moon Scar River, a crowd had already gathered.

Merchants were selling dogs for pulling ice sleds.

Seline was about to go buy one when a familiar voice called out to her:

“Seline.”

My heart seized. I whipped my head around.

This was the first time in this life that I saw Logan.

He wore a black cloak, and in the sunlight, his blue eyes sparkled like jewels.

His face seemed even more sharply carved than before.

Seline tensed up immediately, her face flushing. She grabbed my hand.

“Oh crap. I didn’t drink moongrass soup today.”

“Is he gonna report me to the teachers for being a low-ranking wolf in the academy?”

I froze too.

In this life, without my interference…

Why was he so casual about Seline being a low-ranking wolf?

Could it be—was Logan also reborn?

My heart was pounding a mile a minute, but I forced myself to calm down and whispered to Seline.

“No way, Seline. You’ve been classmates for a year, right? You two get along fine.”

“He doesn’t seem like the type to snitch. Don’t worry.”

Just then, I looked up.

Logan was right there.

He saw me, but his eyes just skimmed over me like I was a stranger, then moved on.

“Seline… that blue dress is really pretty.”

Seline looked unusually shy. She cleared her throat.

“You don’t mind that I’m a low-ranking wolf?”

“We’re all just wolves. I don’t think it matters.”

Seline instinctively tugged her earlobe, sighed, and introduced me to Logan with ease.

“This is my sister, Lucien. We’re twins. Pretty similar-looking, huh?”

Logan just glanced at me flatly, with his usual sharp tongue.

“The faces are alike. The character, though—miles apart.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Seline’s brow furrowed.

“You just met her. How can you say our character is so different? Are you insulting me or my sister?”

Logan’s smug expression finally cracked.

“Seline, why are you so prickly?”

“We’ve been classmates for a year, and I’ve never seen you go off like this for my sake.”

The warmth in Seline’s eyes cooled. She sniffed.

“Lucien’s my real sister. You’re an outsider. Big difference.”

Logan’s face stiffened, and he shot a reproachful look at me—like it was my fault.

Just like in the past life, when Seline tore into him and he took it out on me.

Back then, I’d only followed the pack doctor’s orders and helped change his bandages. He’d grabbed my wrist so hard I thought it would snap.

“Seline just stood up for you and now she’s mad at me, and you can’t wait to seduce me?”

His dark eyes had gleamed with mockery.

“That eager to take her place in my heart?”

My knuckles had gone white. I’d turned to leave.

But he’d grabbed me, biting down on the back of my neck, his whisper drifting through the air.

“Lucien… you’re such a slut…”

Seline yanked me behind her and rolled her eyes.

“Why do you keep staring at my sister, Alpha?”

“Don’t get any ideas. She’s already got someone.”

Logan’s hand paused mid-stroke on a dog’s head. He looked up, the thin sunlight carving his brows and eyes cold as ice on a branch.

He gave a mirthless smirk.

“Your sister giving herself away privately—that’s not proper.”

Seline’s face scrunched up. She pulled me away.

“What the hell is wrong with him today? He’s talking so weird. Come on, Lucien. Ignore him.”

I dropped my gaze and said my hands and feet were getting cold.

The sun had come out, and the snowy landscape was blindingly bright.

I huddled in my cloak, feeling completely drained.

Suddenly, shouting erupted from the lake:

“Oh no! The ice cracked and someone fell in!”

I looked up just in time to see Seline’s blue dress bobbing in the water.

I ran to the riverbank. The ice had split open, the dark water churning.

The ice near the shore was spiderwebbed with cracks. People were backing away fast.

Logan frowned and stopped me. “The water’s too cold. Don’t be a hero. I’ve already—”

I shook him off, threw off my cloak, and dove in.

Seline was fearless and could do anything—she was a crack shot with that bow of hers—but she couldn’t swim.

Me, on the other hand—weak as I was—I could swim like a fish.

Biting through the bone-chilling cold, I managed to haul her out.

The second we were on land, Logan wrapped Seline in a thick coat and scooped her up.

He looked back at me, his lashes hiding something dark in his eyes.

“You… wait here. I’ll come back for you.”

I lay on the shore, soaking wet, my winter clothes heavy as lead with all the water they’d sucked up.

The wind cut through me, and my dripping hair was practically freezing solid.

Someone nearby grabbed my arm, trying to help.

But I was too weak to hold on, sliding back toward the icy water.

Just as I was about to black out, my wrist was jerked hard—

And I crashed into a big, warm embrace.

I blinked up in a daze.

It was Darien Greywind.
