The Alpha’s Wrong Luna Chapter 01

The Alpha’s Wrong Luna Chapter 01

To get into the higher academy, the twin Seline disguised herself as a high-ranking werewolf.

The night I went to bring her moongrass soup, I ran right into her classmate—Logan Blackrock, heir to the Blackrock territory.

He stood between the moonlight and the shadow of the stone pillars, his pupils shrinking, his nostrils flaring slightly.

“…You don’t smell like a wolf.”

That same night, the Moon Pact’s light descended upon the academy tower.

Messengers from the Wolf God’s temple arrived with a blood contract scroll, ordering me to marry into the Blackrock territory.

Seline was heartbroken.

And Logan finally learned—the Moon Pact had chosen the wrong person.

But the blood contract was already sealed. No take-backs. No defiance.

For that, he hated me.

Treated me like a sacrificial offering placed in the wrong hands.

Even on the full moon night, when he bit the back of my neck trying to complete the mark, he still snarled in my ear:

“If you’d told the truth from the start, the one staying with me forever would never have been you.”

I died on the day of the lunar eclipse.

Then I was reborn—back to the evening when Seline asked me to bring her the soup.

I shook my head.

“I’m not going.”

Seline blinked.

“…You’re not going?”

She downed the bowl of moongrass soup and gave me a puzzled look. “You said yesterday you’d help me make it—what’s up? Why the sudden change of heart?”

“Only your fresh moongrass soup tastes like sweet juice. The stuff I make is garbage.”

The moongrass soup was Seline’s magic ticket to passing as a high-ranking werewolf so she could sneak into the Advanced Academy.

Outside, the wind had picked up out of nowhere.

Leaves swirled into the dry pond. The sky beyond the window was gray and hazy.

I looked up at Seline.

She’d already downed a bowl of moongrass soup and was practically radiating high-ranking wolf vibes.

She rested her chin on my shoulder and wheedled, “C’mon, Lucien. Just go this once.”

“If I wait till tonight to drink my batch, it tastes like licking a iron gate.”

On that face identical to mine, she wore a pouty, pitiful look.

In my past life, Seline had begged me just like this.

We were twin sisters, born of the same mother, close as could be.

Seline was crazy sensitive to smells. She couldn’t stomach any kind of herb soup.

Only the soup I made ever tasted sweet to her.

So in my past life, I went.

It was also a foggy kind of day when I first laid eyes on Logan.

The moon was pale and hazy.

He was lying in the shadow of a big tree, his body strong and ridiculously easy on the eyes. He looked totally at ease, but his Alpha aura was pure pressure.

When he saw me, he froze for a second.

“Seline Moonsong…”

His wolf eyes went a little vertical in the dim light. He smelled it—I was a low-ranking wolf.

I tried to bolt, but he reached out and grabbed my wrist.

His thumb pressed against my pulse, like he was counting my heartbeats.

Footsteps from an instructor echoed in the distance. I struggled in a panic, my nails scratching the back of his hand.

He didn’t let go. Instead, he lowered his head and gently licked the drop of blood off his own skin.

“…Moon.”

I heard him whisper that word, and my blood ran cold.

That was the oldest word in wolf contracts—Moon meant fated mate.

I tore free and ran like hell, leaving behind a brooch in my haste.

He didn’t chase me. Just stood there, watching my retreating back, a full moon reflected in his pupils.

That night, the mark of the Moon Pact appeared above the Yu family’s roof.

The Blackrock wolves surrounded the whole street.

Logan Blackrock stood at the front, holding that brooch—the rose on it pointing straight at my window.

“The Moon Goddess as my witness,” he said, “she will be my mate.”

The Blackrock pack—the most powerful wolf clan around.

Logan Blackrock, their Alpha, was strong, tough, with a face carved like a mountain range.

For low-ranking wolves like us, becoming his Luna would’ve been the greatest blessing in the world.

But the day we made the blood contract, Logan saw Seline in the crowd—saw her heartbroken face.

He got dead drunk and stumbled into our den.

Grabbed my wrist.

“Why didn’t you tell me sooner that the Moon’s guidance pointed to my classmate, Seline?”

“If I’d known you weren’t her, I never would’ve made the contract with you.”

I was stunned.

So the only reason Logan chose me as his Luna…

Was because he’d mistaken me for Seline.

When Seline found out how I’d been treated, she grabbed her big bow and stormed the Blackrock pack’s sacred grounds.

She shot Logan in the shoulder with a silver arrow, drawing blood.

“You made a contract with my sister, so you’d damn well better take care of her for life.”

“If you make my sister suffer again, I won’t let it slide!”

Logan got seriously sick after that.

And Seline, eaten up with guilt over me, left the pack—only to die in a storm far from home.

From then on, the Blackrock pack was at war with my family.

Remembering all that past-life pain, and looking at Seline’s spoiled face, I shook my head.

“Seline, I can ask another wolf to bring you the soup. It’ll still be sweet.”

“But today, I’m not going.”

Seeing how firm I was, Seline paused and didn’t push.

“Alright, alright. Don’t go then.”

She glanced at me, sighed, and her eyes curved into a smile.

“I was gonna show off to my classmates that I have such a cute, pretty sister.”

I watched her stride out the door, her skirt cutting a beautiful arc through the air.

And my nose suddenly stung.

I didn’t go.

And just like that, the doomed fate from my last life never got started.

When Seline came home and chattered about her academy adventures like always, I let out a genuine sigh of relief.

The cold wind blew for two days straight.

Then out of nowhere, snow.

Right after breakfast, I heard excited voices in the yard: “It’s snowing! Come look, huge flakes!”

I pushed open the door and sure enough, the gloomy sky was dumping goose-feather snow.

The ground turned white in no time.

That afternoon, while the snow was really coming down, I built two snowmen outside—or maybe snow wolves?

One me, one Seline.

What I didn’t count on was how weak my body really was.

By night, I was sick as a dog with a high fever.

Seline came home from the academy, not even bothering to brush the snow off her shoulders before coming inside.

I saw her blurry figure, and memories of the past life came flooding back. I couldn’t help whimpering:

“Seline…”

She put her ice-cold hands on my face and took away the handkerchief my forehead had dried out.

“Serves you right for playing in the snow.”

Seline always talked tough, but underneath, she was a softie.

She said that, but her hands never stopped working.

After wiping me down to bring my fever down, she crouched by the fire and brewed medicine.

Buried under my blanket, I vaguely saw her burn her hands on the pot and puff out her cheeks to blow on them—her face all round like a bullfrog in a pond.

And just like that, the little bit of resentment I had left faded away.

Seline brought the bowl to my lips.

She was exhausted too, muttering, “If Darien finds out I didn’t take good care of you and comes down on me… I can’t handle that…”

I froze.

Seline realized what she’d said and gave a dry little laugh.

“Forget I mentioned him. Don’t be mad, sis.”

But I was already lost, staring at the dancing red flames in the fire.

Darien. When was the last time I heard that name?

Five years? Ten? Or the whole sorry span of my past life?

The snow kept falling outside. The lanterns on the eaves cast skeletal tree shadows on the window.

I suddenly thought—in my past life, if not for that sudden Moon omen…

I didn’t have to marry Logan.

Long before that, back when the Greywind pack rode off to war—

A tall figure had shielded me from the snow, grinned at me into the bitter west wind, and said:

“This trip’ll take a while.”

“If I make it back in one piece, I’m gonna make you my Luna.”
