Three Chances for the Amnesiac Don Chapter 08

Three Chances for the Amnesiac Don Chapter 08

## Phineas’s POV

Seraphina’s objections died unspoken in her throat.

Leo and Madre Lancaster entered, carrying files. “Don Wren, we uncovered several discrepancies regarding Madre Wren and Ms. Seraphina.”

Leo fixed Seraphina with a look of unbridled revulsion. “We retrieved the hospital security footage recorded before the car crash.”

“The footage confirms Seraphina stormed Cordelia’s ward that day, picking a fight and instigating their confrontation.”

Leo fell silent, his features hardening into a grim mask. “As for what was exchanged between them…”

He produced a recording device. “Found this in the wreckage of Madre Wren’s room. Seems things moved too fast for you to receive it earlier.”

He pressed the play button.

“When my grandmother’s house exploded, I sealed the emergency exits. I pulled her oxygen tube. But that idiot mother of yours still thinks you killed her.”

Seraphina’s voice filled the room.

The rage that surged through me and Madre Lancaster was volcanic.

Madre Lancaster hurled her purse at Seraphina. “You! How dare you?! What did Cordelia ever do to deserve this?”

“You’re the reason I misunderstood my own daughter!”

“I thought Cordelia was a monster for refusing to pay for her grandmother’s surgery! That’s why I disowned her and married your father!”

“I never imagined you were the one who blocked the emergency access!”

“Is this your ‘innocence’?!”

Seraphina’s face turned ghostly white. She was speechless.

Leo glanced at her, then presented more evidence. “Regarding Madre Wren’s car accident, we found the mechanic.”

“He handled the maintenance on both her vehicles. He’s currently in the Wren family dungeons, awaiting your judgment.”

“He confessed that the woman who paid him to sabotage the brakes was… her.”

He tossed a photo onto the bed. Seraphina was clearly visible.

Seraphina began trembling uncontrollably. “You’re all insane! Cordelia is dead! Dead!”

“Are you really turning on me for a corpse? Is she worth making an enemy of the entire Lancaster family?!”

Leo shook his head. He turned to me, his gaze steady.

“Don Wren, Madre Wren saved my life. I owe her the truth. Even if you exile me for this.”

“I’ve already sent copies of all the evidence to Madre Wren’s cousin, Alistair Finch, at the FBI.”

“Ms. Seraphina, your father, Don Lancaster, is currently drowning in Polish Mafia troubles. He won’t have time for you.”

“This time, you won’t escape.”

Police sirens wailed outside the hospital.

Realizing she was cornered, Seraphina dropped to her knees. She clung to my legs, weeping.

“Phineas, listen! It wasn’t intentional! I love you too much! I wanted you with me! When I saw you shield her with your body during the crash… I lost my mind!”

I looked down at her with revulsion.

“So you lied to her during surgery? You told her I ordered the termination of our child? That I didn’t want her baby?”

“Seraphina, how can you be so evil? That was a living, breathing life!”

My vision turned red. I wanted to strangle her.

I never realized how thoroughly Seraphina had orchestrated my destruction with Cordelia.

The irony was sickening. I had hurt Cordelia for this woman.

I kicked her off me, sending her sprawling.

I would listen to no more begging, grant no last ounce of mercy.

“Hand her over to the responding officers at once,” I ordered my men.

I squeezed my eyes shut, overwhelming despair crashing down on me.

“Leo, you did well.”

“If the Lancaster family chooses to retaliate, make them answer for their choices.”
