“If You Can’t Bear My Mistress, We Can Swap Newtons”- So I Married His Worst Rival At the Wedding Chapter 07

The guards were already on their knees.

Preston stared at Nico like he was seeing a ghost.

“Who the hell are you?”

He thought he knew me.

Sure, the Ashfords had status in Ashford. But nothing like this.

Those weren’t regular helicopters. One of them cost hundreds of millions. And there were over a dozen. Plus these men. Trained. Faces full of violence.

Years ago, Preston had gone overseas once. The mercenaries there had the same vibe. A faint smell of blood. Not strong. But impossible to ignore.

Nico gave him a long look.

“Still don’t get it?”

“Sloane and I? We’re the kind of people no one in this town can touch.”

Preston’s phone rang.

His father’s voice came through, furious.

“You stupid son of a bitch. Who told you to screw around with that Tessa woman?”

“Because you pissed off Sloane Ashford, we just lost half a dozen major clients. A billion dollars gone.”

Preston thought he misheard. “Dad, you’re joking. Those clients never worked with the Ashfords. How could she possibly—”

“The Ashfords couldn’t. But someone else can.”

“You’ve been with her for years and you didn’t know? She’s the granddaughter of the head of the Drake family. The number one of the Four Great Families in the North.”

Preston went still.

“The Drakes? Their power runs across the whole northern region?”

“Who else? And that man next to her? That’s Nico De Luca. The only heir of the De Luca family, ranked number two. Once those two families speak, our entire northern business is dead. This is your doing.”

“I’m telling you right now. Cut ties with Tessa. Even if you have to beg. Get Sloane Ashford back.”

His phone was on speaker.

Everyone—including my dad—stared with their mouths open.

No one knew I was the granddaughter of the head of the Drake family, the most powerful of the Four Great Families.

“That’s impossible.”

My dad shot to his feet. “If that’s true, your mother—she never said…”

“If she had, then what?”

I looked at him coldly. “If she had, you would have been more careful not to let her catch you cheating, so you could keep milking the connection.”

“And you wouldn’t have helped Loretta cover up pushing my mom down the stairs. Right?”

My dad and Loretta both went white.

“Grandpa didn’t want her to marry you. But you sweet-talked her. She thought you really loved her. Cut ties with her family. Built everything with you from nothing.”

“And you betrayed her. Because she was more capable than you. So you cheated. Had a kid with someone else. Watched her fall apart, and it made you feel like you’d finally won.”

Preston’s expression shifted.

“I stayed in that house all these years for two reasons. One—I knew my mom didn’t kill herself. I just didn’t have proof back then. So I waited.”

“Two—I couldn’t leave that place. Every memory of her was in those walls. But you moved Loretta in. And now it’s ruined. I don’t want it anymore.”

“So here’s what’s happening, Dad. You and your mistress are going to prison for the rest of your lives. I’m taking over the company. And that affair kid? He gets nothing. Not a single share. He can go to foster care.”
