They Called Me The Mistress, Until My Mafia Family Arrived Chapter 06

They Called Me The Mistress, Until My Mafia Family Arrived Chapter 06

“Who are we?”

The woman standing on the far left pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose.

She was wearing a sharply tailored business suit and holding a thick stack of documents.

This was Clara Sinclair, the undefeated queen of the legal world and Evan’s older sister.

She walked up to Jewel and slammed the documents right in her face.

“Clara Sinclair. They are the Lancaster family. I will be the lead prosecutor you’ll be facing.”

“The Sinclair family? … The Lancaster family?”

Her legs gave way, and she collapsed onto the floor.

The Sinclair and Lancaster families of New York—

The legendary elite families that had influence in both the underworld and the establishment, were as rich as nations, and controlled the best medical and legal resources.

She thought it was just a lie Mia Lancaster had made up out of vanity.

Who would have thought that these four people would actually come all the way to Havenport just to back me up!

“It can’t be… This can’t be…”

Jewel shook her head vigorously and muttered to herself.

“She’s clearly a mistress! She seduced my husband!”

“Just because you’re the Lancaster family doesn’t mean you can be unreasonable!”

Smack!

Clara slapped Jewel hard across the face, sending her crashing to the ground.

“You’re trying to reason with me?”

Clara looked down at her coldly, her face full of disgust.

“First, Mia is the Lancaster family’s most cherished little princess, and her personal fortune is enough to buy ten Kensington families.”

“Does she need to seduce a husband who’s only there because of his wife?”

“Second, you committed unlawful detention, intentional assault, and the theft of emergency medical equipment, which left another person in critical condition.”

Clara pointed to the documents on the floor.

“This evidence is enough to keep you behind bars for the rest of your life.”

“Third…”

Clara’s gaze shifted to Ryan, who was shivering nearby.

“Mr. Kensington, tell us—did my sister seduce you or not?”

Ryan shuddered.

He looked at the bodyguard in the crosshairs of the infrared sight, and at Jewel, who was terrified out of her wits.

He knew he was completely finished.

To save himself, he knelt down without hesitation.

“No! No!”

Ryan was frantically bowing, his shirt soaked through with cold sweat.

“I was the one who lied! Mia doesn’t even know me!”

“It was Jewel who insisted on calling her a mistress. I… I was afraid Jewel would find out the truth, so I went along with it and framed Mia!”

Jewel looked up suddenly, staring at her husband in disbelief.

“Ryan! You bastard! What did you say?”

“You actually dared to use me?”

“Who is the real mistress?”

Clara gave a cold laugh, pulled a photo out of the folder, and tossed it in front of Jewel.

“May—your father’s illegitimate daughter, and your sister.”

“You’re so stupid. Her mother stole your mother’s husband, and now she’s stolen yours too.”

“You dared to lay a hand on a member of the Lancaster family based on nothing more than a blurry photo of a back?”

“Jewel, you’re not only stupid, you’re blind too.”

Jewel looked at the clear headshot.

The woman in the photo was wearing the same haute couture dress as me, nestled in Ryan’s arms.

The truth had come to light.

All her arrogance and self-assurance turned into a joke in that moment.

She single-handedly drove the Kensington family into ruin—all for a son-in-law who betrayed her!

“Ah!”

Jewel let out a bloodcurdling scream and lunged forward, clamping her hands tightly around Ryan’s neck.

“I’ll kill you! I’ll kill you, you beast!”

The two of them were wrestling on the ground.

Rhett watched the scene coldly, without a shred of sympathy.

He walked over to me, crouched down, and stroked my hair.

“Mia, you must have been so scared.”

Only when he looked at me did a hint of tenderness flicker in his cold, ruthless eyes.

I shook my head, keeping my eyes fixed on Stella and Evan the whole time.

“Bro, I’m fine.”

“Evan…”

Stella wiped the sweat from her forehead and let out a long sigh of relief.

“His heartbeat has returned.”

“He’s no longer in critical condition, but he needs to return to a private hospital in New York immediately for a thorough examination.”

When I heard those words, my tense nerves finally relaxed.

I collapsed onto the ground, gasping for breath, and tears welled up in my eyes once again.

Evan slowly opened his eyes.

His gaze was still a little unfocused, but the moment he saw me—

He struggled to raise his hand and said in a voice so faint it was almost inaudible:

“Mia… don’t cry…”

He didn’t even realize he’d just had a brush with death.

All he knew was that I was crying, and he had to comfort me.

I clutched his hand tightly, sobbing uncontrollably.

“I’m not crying, Evan. Let’s go home.”

Rhett stood up and watched Jewel and Ryan as they continued to wrestle on the ground.

“Take them away.”

“Havenport won’t need the Kensington family anymore.”
