Boyfriend Stood Me Up Seventeen Times And Said Next Time—I Quit Chapter 02

That evening, I joined a video call with my colleagues from the bridal design studio based in Paris.

They’d extended an offer to join their team seven times total.

I’d turned them down six times, all for Julian’s sake.

This seventh offer, I was finally saying yes.

“I’ve handed over all my ongoing local projects. I’ll be ready to leave in two days at most.”

“Wonderful news, Chloe,” Howard said, his voice bright with excitement. “Your talent deserves to be shared with the world. I’ll personally show you around Paris once you arrive.”

“Paris? What’s this about Paris?”

Julian’s voice cut into the call out of nowhere.

I turned around and saw he was home early.

“You’re back sooner than usual.”

It was only eight o’clock. For the past three months, he would have been out with Tiffany this time of night.

He frowned at my words.

“What exactly are you implying?”

He pushed past me a second later and rummaged through the desk drawer, pulling out two concert tickets.

“Tiffany treated me to lunch today, so I’m taking her to a concert tonight to return the favor.”

He shot me a quick warning look.

“It’s just a polite gesture. Don’t read too much into it.”

I nodded quietly.

My gaze drifted over the tickets in his hand. The issue date was marked as the day before.

This wasn’t a last-minute plan. He’d arranged it well in advance.

I chose not to point it out. Our relationship was already ending anyway.

Who he spent his evenings with was his choice now.

Still, my chest ached, and my eyes stung against my will.

“Julian, do you know what today is?”

He furrowed his brows in confusion.

“It’s not your period anymore, is it?”

“I’m running late for the concert. I have to go.”

He turned to leave.

“Julian!” I called out, forcing a weak smile onto my face.

“Grab a cake on your way back. Matcha flavor.”

He blinked in surprise.

“Alright.”

“I have something important to talk to you about when you get home.”

“Got it.”

The front door clicked shut behind him. I sat back down at my desk and returned to the video call.

“My apologies. Let’s continue.”

Julian had forgotten again. Today was my birthday.

Two months ago, he’d asked what gift I wanted for the occasion.

I’d only made two simple requests.

The first was that designer handbag I’d wanted.

The second was to attend that long-awaited concert together.

He never bought the bag. He took someone else to the concert instead.

Now he couldn’t even remember my birthday at all.

It didn’t matter, though. Tonight we’d officially end things, and I would fly to Paris soon after.

Our paths would never cross again.
