The Lost Decade Chapter 10

The Lost Decade Chapter 10

That night, Wyatt had a dream.

In the dream, Cora was full of resentment toward him.

“You betrayed me first! You got another woman pregnant!”

“Wyatt Pierce, you’ll never find me again for the rest of your life!”

“Cora!”

He jolted awake from the nightmare. Pale morning light filtered through the window, and he was drenched in

cold sweat.

He didn’t bother with anything else. He drove straight to Hayley’s apartment.

Before Hayley could even show her surprised smile, he had already dragged her into the car.

“Wyatt, where are we going?”

The man’s face was stormy as he floored the gas pedal.

It wasn’t until she was pulled into the clinic hallway and pushed toward the door of the procedure room that Hayley’s eyes flew wide open, her face twisting with pain and despair.

“Wyatt! This is your own flesh and blood!”

He just looked at her coldly.

“I don’t care if it is or isn’t. I won’t acknowledge it.”

“But its very existence would make Cora despise me. So it can’t stay.”

Hayley struggled, trying to flee.

But the dark-faced man forced the nurse to push her into the procedure room.

Outside the room, Wyatt stood there in a stupor.

What surfaced in his mind was the child he had lost because he had shielded Hayley.

The more he thought about it, the more it felt like a dull knife slowly carving into his chest, until the pain made it impossible to breathe.

“Cora…”

“I will find you.”

In the silent hallway, only the man’s sighs and regrets lingered for a long time.
