The Child I Carry Is Not Your Heir Chapter 07

“You think you spent the whole night tangled up with me after getting drunk, but you only passed out from

cold medicine.”

“I left afterward. I was out on a date with Sam that exact day, and that’s when the baby was conceived.”

“We’ve always been friends, and our parents live right next door to each other. When I showed up the next

morning to check you out of the hotel, you jumped to the wrong conclusion that we’d slept together.”

“The child isn’t yours at all. I’ve got photos from my date with Sam to prove it.”

Jay choked, staring at me in disbelief. “No, all of this is just an act Sam put on with you. Those dating photos could’ve been taken later any day.”

Sam’s brows drew tight. He pulled out his phone and typed a quick message to someone.

Fury made my head spin, and Sam steadied me by the arm. “The hotel you checked into has full security

footage. I already asked a contact to pull all the recordings.”

I knew with his connections, anything he needed was only a single request away.

It didn’t take long.

The footage popped up on his screen.

The timestamp clearly showed I’d stepped in and out of the hotel in less than ten minutes that night.

I appeared again the following morning, dropped off at the lobby entrance by Sam. He’d been heading

overseas to finalize a port deal back then and planned constant cross-country trips for the next six months.

I swiped further on the screen to pull up snapshots from my outing with Sam.

“He booked a luxury star-view penthouse suite for me. There was no way I’d skip that date.”

I slipped the phone away, a faint mocking glint flickering across my eyes.

“Jay, you definitely wound up in bed with some woman that night-you’ve always had no shortage of

admirers. It just wasn’t me. You might’ve actually fathered a kid somewhere, but it’s never the one growing

inside my belly.”

Jay crumpled, eyes blazing with rage as he fixed his gaze on me.

“Why didn’t you say this sooner? Why let me misunderstand everything for so long? You were the first person

I saw when I woke up, of course I assumed we’d been together.”

I cut him off sharply, speaking every word slowly and clearly.

“Don’t spout nonsense, Jay. From the second I told you I was pregnant, I’ve spent every breath clarifying we never slept together and this baby isn’t yours.”

“But you never listened to a single word. You convinced yourself I was chasing after you, even claimed I was

using this baby to blackmail you.”

That birthday party had only ever been my chance to cut ties with him for good.

I’d hoped we could part on decent terms.

I never imagined he’d join in with others to drag my name through the mud.

At my words, Jay completely broke down and sank heavily onto the floor, swallowed by despair.

He’d never fathomed the girl who’d loved him fiercely for an entire decade could flip her feelings so easily.

She’d moved on fast enough to carry another man’s child and glow with pure happiness.

Truth was, he’d never cared for me to begin with, and even now still looked down on me.

I’d spent years revolving around his world, and the second I walked away, he assumed he’d find a more docile

girl to take my place.

Reality hit hard: without me around, no one would ever love him selflessly again.

Yvonne finally understood why I’d ripped everything open with no mercy.

All this ugly fallout was over my unborn baby.

The whole mess struck her as bitterly ironic.

Her cheeks flushed hot then drained pale. Seeing Jay make no move to apologize, she squeezed her eyes

shut in humiliation and anger.

“If you keep throwing this childish fit, Jay, I’m leaving right now. Farewell.”

With that, she grabbed her purse without a backward glance and stormed out of the room.

Surprisingly, Jay didn’t chase her down.

He only stared up at me drowning in regret, rigid as an aged stone statue.
