When the Fake Heiress Ate Her Words Chapter 09

When the Fake Heiress Ate Her Words Chapter 09

I didn’t answer his question. If I didn’t remember, then there was nothing to forgive.

Over the next few days, something seemed to click for Ethan, and he started desperately trying to make it up to me. I didn’t stop him. I didn’t say much either.

Watching us interact, Mom and Dad seemed relieved. They smiled more often.

Life continued peacefully like this until the day of the homecoming banquet.

Mom and Dad stood with me at the center of the stage, proudly introducing me to the guests. “This is our biological daughter, Amanda Hartley.”

The guests turned their attention to me, unable to hold back their admiration.

“Didn’t they say she grew up in the countryside? You’d never guess it. She’s beautiful and so well-

mannered.”

“She’s so much better than that imposter they had before.”

“Well, of course. That girl was a fake! She has no class at all!”

Surrounded by chatter, I picked up the microphone and prepared to introduce myself.

“Amanda Hartley, go to hell!”

Suddenly, a knife came flying straight at me. A nearby security guard reacted instantly, kicking the

attacker to the ground and pinning her down.

It was Claire!

I hadn’t seen her in a while. She looked gaunt, filthy, and utterly disheveled.

“Claire, you dare show your face here!” Ethan’s expression turned dark. “You ran off after the paternity

test. I was going to let you live, and you have the nerve to try and hurt Amanda!”

Claire’s eyes were bloodshot with rage. “Hurt her? She’s the one who ruined me!”

She turned her vicious glare on me, fury burning in her eyes. “This is all your fault! You stole everything

from me!”

I looked down at her calmly. “I stole from you? All of this was mine to begin with.”

Claire froze at my words, her face flushing red.

Ethan’s expression shifted. “Claire, what happened to your baby?”

“The baby?” Claire let out a cold laugh as tears streamed down her face. “All you men are heartless bastards! I went to find the father. I told him to take responsibility! But he… he insisted I’d slept around

and refused to acknowledge the child… So he kicked me in the stomach and killed my baby!”

Gasps erupted around the room.

“My God, how cruel. How did Claire end up like this?”

“She brought it on herself, honestly. She was fooling around with so many men.

“Exactly. Those photos and videos are all over the internet already!”

At the mention of the videos, something clicked for Claire. Her eyes blazed as she jerked her head up to look at me.

“Amanda! How? Why did I end up in those videos? I checked everything beforehand! But as soon as… as soon as I released them, they all showed my face instead!”

I laughed coldly as she fell apart. “I told you. Lies have consequences.”

As my words sank in, Claire finally understood.

She’d accused me of getting pregnant out of wedlock, so she got pregnant. She’d accused me of sleeping with seven men, so those men appeared in her bed and swore she’d invited them.

Every fabricated video she created came back to show her instead.

“You… how did you…” Claire’s eyes widened in terror, as if she wanted to ask more.

But the Hartley family didn’t give her the chance. Security guards dragged her toward the exit as she screamed hysterically.

“No! Amanda, I was wrong! Please let me go! I admit it! Everything before was a lie! It was me… all me! I know I was wrong. Please forgive me! Amanda, give me one more chance!”

Claire’s voice faded into the distance until I could no longer hear it. I smiled faintly, raised my glass, and

continued my introduction to the guests.

The banquet ended smoothly. Everyone now knew that the Hartley family’s biological daughter, Amanda

Hartley, was intelligent and gracious.

And that imposter? She was just a lunatic who spread lies about others. From now on, she’d spend the

rest of her life haunted by those very lies.

I strode forward and pushed open the villa doors. In the warm glow of the lights, Mom and Dad came

walking toward me.

“Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you… Amanda, happy birthday!”

Ethan walked over carrying a cake and singing. I couldn’t help but smile.

Happy birthday, Amanda Hartley. You would have a new and wonderful life ahead of you.
