My Villainess Script Has A Glitch Chapter 10

My Villainess Script Has A Glitch Chapter 10

The comments were a mess. So was I.

[What is going on? Why does the male lead like Chloe?]

[He has to be talking about the female lead. There’s no way he means her.]

[Stop coping. Even God couldn’t spin this — he’s talking about the side character.]

[She basically slapped him in the face this afternoon, and now he’s online crying about it. Actual tears.]

Honestly, it wasn’t that hard to figure out.

I bossed him around, sure, but I always had his back.

When someone called him a bastard behind his back, I was the one who threw punches.

I made him wear my clothes once when we were playing house, and he curled up in my arms and fell right to sleep.

[This is chaos. What about the female lead?]

[Doesn’t the male lead hold onto her keepsake? She’s supposed to be his first love!]

[Whoever the male lead picks is the female lead. That’s how it works.]

[The male lead is kind of a jerk, though. He’s stringing two girls along.]

[I’m dropping this. Trash.]

The comments were at war with each other. But I was stuck on something else entirely — when had I ever said any of it was a bet?

I didn’t get a chance to figure it out. There was a knock at my door.

Nathaniel was standing there in a loosely tied bathrobe, his chest and shoulders on full display.

His chest tapered into a flat stomach and the sharp cut of his hips. His eyes were dark, half-lidded, almost dazed.

The comments stopped fighting for a second.

[Excuse me? She gets to look at that every day? That face and that body are unreal.]

[Open the robe a little more, please. Sir, this is not a business meeting.]

[He definitely likes her. Someone in the comments told him what to do, and he ran straight here to do it.]

[He’s literally trying to thirst-trap her. I thought he was the ice king type, but he’s actually a sad puppy. I can’t.]

[I don’t know if he seduced Chloe, but he definitely seduced me.]

[Can I sub in for a few episodes? Please?]

“Did you need something?” I said.

Nathaniel stared at me. His Adam’s apple bobbed.

“The hairdryer in my room is broken,” he said. “Can I borrow yours?”

I didn’t call him out on it.

“Hang on. I’ll grab it.”

Nathaniel waited at the door. I didn’t look at him — not once — and something in his eyes went out.

I handed him the hairdryer and shut the door.

I didn’t care whether he really liked me. Years of being frozen out didn’t just disappear overnight.

He had every chance to say something — anything — and he never had. And then there was Audrey.

I wasn’t going to throw myself at him over feelings he had never bothered to say out loud.

Besides, the comments ripped me apart every single day, and I was sick of it.

My parents were thrilled that Nathaniel had moved back in. I sat at the table pushing my food around.

I put my fork down and decided to say it.

“What do you actually want, Nathaniel?”

He bit his lip. His eyes never left my face.

“Chloe, I like you,” he said. “I want a chance with you.”

I almost wanted to laugh.

“Who do you think you are?” I said. “You haven’t said a single kind thing to me in years, and now you want a chance?”

The color drained from his face. He started talking fast, stumbling over his words.

“I wasn’t trying to be cruel,” he said. “The coldness — it was all an act.”

“I thought if I dropped the act, you’d lose interest. I didn’t even know if you were serious.”

Why should I have to pay for the stories he made up in his own head?

His silence had cut into me for years, and I was the one left with the scars.

“This is over,” I said. “Go find Audrey. We’re not right for each other.”

Nathaniel frowned. “Audrey? Who’s Audrey?”

It took him a few seconds.

“There’s nothing between us,” he said. “We’ve barely even spoken.”

“The night you went to the bar, I didn’t sleep at all. The next day, my blood sugar crashed at the hospital, and she handed me a carton of milk.” He held my gaze. “That was it. That was all.”

“I’ve only ever liked you, Chloe. No one else.”

I didn’t move, didn’t soften. He looked like he was on the verge of falling apart.

“If you don’t believe me, we’ll go to the hospital tomorrow,” he said. “Find her. Ask her yourself.”

He didn’t look like he was lying.

“Forget it,” I said. “Audrey or no Audrey — it doesn’t matter.”

Nathaniel caught hold of my wrist. His eyes were red and bright with tears, and his voice broke.

“Why doesn’t it matter?” he said. “Don’t you want me anymore?”

“You told me I’d be your shadow for life,” he said. “You promised you’d protect me. You can’t just take that back.”

A tear slid down his face.

The comments went wild.

[The male lead never liked the female lead. Not even a little. RIP my ship.]

[I actually get her, though. She chased him for years, finally gave up, and now he tells her he likes her?]

[Honestly? I wouldn’t believe him either.]

[I know I’m unhinged, but watching the male lead cry is doing something for me.]

[Who would’ve thought the ice-cold CEO would cry like a baby in front of Chloe?]

[He wouldn’t say a word before, and now that she doesn’t want him, he won’t shut up — through tears.]

[I live for this kind of chaos. I’m shipping the male lead and the side character now. HARD.]

[Is no one going to fix this plot? What about the female lead? Hello?]
