They Erased Me, So I Rewrote My Life Chapter 07

I instinctively took a large step back.

The pitchfork crashed onto the spot where I had just been standing.

“Sorry.”

The voice came from inside the tool shed, low and a little rough.

A boy walked out.

He wore mud-stained overalls and an old T-shirt, a shovel still in his hand. He picked up the pitchfork and set it back against the wall.

He didn’t offer much of an explanation, just glanced at me, as if checking to see if I was hurt.

I recognized him.

Leo Hernandez.

He worked on the school farm and was often around during the practical part of agriculture class.

In my last life, I had barely noticed him.

Quiet, always working with his head down, like a stone in a field.

I shook my head to show I was fine and walked toward the classroom.

“Wait,” he called out. “You’re the new transfer student?”

I nodded.

“The teacher asked me to take you to get your textbooks.” As he spoke, his gaze darted away, and his ears turned faintly red. “Come with me.”

It was a terrible excuse.

I didn’t call him on it.

After picking up the books, I sat in the last row of the classroom. During the lesson, I could feel Leo’s gaze occasionally land on me.

I dismissed it as simple curiosity.

After all, the sudden appearance of the Walton family’s eldest daughter, transferred from St. Anne’s, was interesting enough on its own.

Until the bell rang, and Bryce Connally blocked the classroom door.
