I Signed the Divorce and Never Signed Back In Chapter 08

I Signed the Divorce and Never Signed Back In Chapter 08

I actually laughed at that. It was so ridiculous.

“Jason, do you even hear yourself?”

“So you cheated on me. You made a stupid bet and divorced me. You married my best friend. And I was supposed to wait around for you like some lovesick fool? Hoping you’d come back to me?”

“For two whole years, you didn’t call me once. You didn’t send a single message. And now you’re standing here asking me what?”

I was getting angry now. I wanted to call security and have them throw him out.

“If you came here to catch up, I don’t have time. Get lost.”

Jason closed his eyes. He clenched his fists. When he spoke again, his voice was hoarse.

“Ellie, please. Drop the charges against Kimberly. She’s pregnant. She can’t go to jail.”

“I know she hurt you. But your baby survived. Can’t you just let it go for old time’s sake?”

I met his eyes.

“Why should I? Because my baby survived, I deserved what happened to me? I deserved to be beaten and locked up and put in surgery?”

“And the minute she slept with my husband, she stopped being my best friend.”

“Ellie, how can you be so…”

Before Jason could finish, Margaret’s voice cut through the room.

“How dare you? You couldn’t give my son a single baby. You wasted his time. You owe our family.”

“Kimberly is carrying my grandchildren. Twins. I will never let you touch her.”

“Mom, don’t talk to Ellie like that.” Jason grabbed his mother’s arm, shocked.

“Why not? You always protected her. Now your wife is sitting in a jail cell and you’re still protecting

her.”

Margaret yanked her arm free.

“Do you want to know why she never got pregnant? Kimberly told me everything. She was sleeping

around. She ruined her own fertility.”

“I heard she remarried. I bet that man was her side piece the whole time.”

She didn’t get to finish the sentence.

I slapped her so hard Margaret hit the ground and rolled down the steps

Margaret held her face, stunned. Her finger shook as she pointed at me.

“Have you lost your mind? You hit me.”

Jason rushed to help his mother up. His eyes were full of anger.

I shook out my wrist.

“That was for two years of your nasty comments. You’re lucky I only hit you once.’

“First of all, Jason never protected me from anyone. All he ever did was make excuses. And you want to know why I never got pregnant? Let me show you.”

I went inside and came back with Jason’s medical report. I threw it at their feet.

“Because Jason has a low sperm count. He was never going to get anyone pregnant. Which means Kimberly’s baby isn’t his.”

“So Jason, you tell me. How does it feel to be generous? How does it feel to raise another man’s

child?”
