The Senator’s Daughter Is Now the CEO They Need Chapter 17

On the first weekend after application season ended, I woke up early for once.

As soon as I went downstairs, I saw the living room buzzing with activity.

The butler was directing staff to hang champagne-colored balloons. Several uniformed waiters were setting up long tables with silverware and crystal glasses.

Clearly, they were throwing a party.

They probably hadn’t expected me to be up so early. My mother, who was speaking with the florist, and Olivia both paused, their expressions a little awkward.

I immediately turned to go back to my room, planning to pretend I hadn’t seen anything.

But Olivia hurried over.

“Chloe,” she said, her voice sweet. “My acceptance to Oxford came in, so Mom and Dad wanted to throw a celebration party. They just decided last night. Your room was quiet, so we didn’t want to disturb you.”

I gave a noncommittal hum and kept walking upstairs.

“Chloe, why don’t you join us?” My mother followed me for a few steps, her tone tentative.

I shook my head.

“No. I’m going to the library.”

“Stop pretending to be so studious.”

Julian stood by the door with his arms crossed, his gaze raking over me.

“Anyone who doesn’t know better might think you’re getting into some impressive school yourself.”

I lifted my eyes to him and suddenly smiled.
