The Senator’s Daughter Is Now the CEO They Need Chapter 14

Catherine stood up as if she’d been burned, her face twisting with indignation.

“Chloe, are you blaming me?”

I just looked at her.

She already knew the answer.

Catherine left with a flush of anger, slamming the door hard behind her.

I sat in silence for a few seconds, then immediately opened my banking app. The sight of the fifty-thousand-dollar balance finally steadied me.

I stared at the number for a long time. Finally, I raised a hand and patted my own cheek.

“Chloe, wake up,” I said to myself.

“You live on the most expensive piece of real estate on the East Coast, you study at a top university, and you have fifty thousand dollars in your account. Stop expecting them to love you. Just take the money you’re owed.”

I repeated it to myself over and over.

Until three in the morning.

I quietly got up, changed into black clothes, and slipped over to the east wing where Olivia lived.

She slept soundly, like someone who had never been startled awake in her life.

I went to the old security panel at the end of the hall, pried open the casing with practiced ease, and inserted a thin metal wire into the designated terminal.

A piercing alarm immediately shrieked through the house.

The light in Olivia’s room snapped on, followed by her terrified scream.

I heard the footsteps of security staff pounding up from downstairs.

I pulled out the wire, and the alarm cut off. Once the footsteps receded, I inserted it again.

Back and forth, three times.

During the chaos of the final round, I walked to her door and slipped a small card under it.

On it, I had written:

*Didn’t you say you felt so guilty you couldn’t sleep? You seem to be sleeping just fine.*

After that, I returned to my room and slept soundly.

At breakfast the next morning, the atmosphere was tense.

Olivia had two dark circles under her eyes. Her face was pale. When she saw me, she looked like she had seen a ghost.

Julian cursed under his breath.

“Psycho.”

As soon as he said it, Olivia grabbed his arm and hurriedly pulled him away.
