The Alpha’s Rejected Luna: Crown of Thorns Chapter 06

The Alpha’s Rejected Luna: Crown of Thorns Chapter 06

Before I could respond, the call cut off. The silence felt louder than any howl. I sat frozen, his voice still ringing in

my ears like distant thunder that refused to fade. My chest ached, tight and sore-but beneath the fear, beneath the

uncertainty, something unfamiliar bloomed inside me.

Relief.

Right or wrong, monster or savior, Damien had stepped in when the entire world turned its back on my daughter. When no wolf moved, he did. I brushed the tears from my face and murmured into the empty room, my voice barely

more than breath, “I don’t know what you are… but you were the only one who chose us.”

When my lips curved, it wasn’t the fragile smile I’d worn for years.

It was edged.

It was dangerous.

The pack house slept, wrapped in false peace. I climbed the stairs slowly, every step pressing against my bruised

ribs. My heartbeat thundered in my ears, so loud I feared it would give me away. When I reached the Alpha’s chambers,

I stopped.

The door wasn’t fully closed.

Through the narrow opening, I saw everything.

Ravenna straddled Kael, her laughter blending with his low groans. Their bodies moved together without shame,

faces lit with pleasure and indulgence. My stomach lurched violently, nausea crawling up my throat. Any lingering

bond-any illusion of a mate-was slaughtered in that moment. I watched him touch her like I’d never existed, like I’d

always been invisible.

Her voice sliced through the air, sharp and impatient.

“How much longer are you going to keep her around? I’m sick of being called the mistress.”

Kael laughed softly, cruel and lazy.

“The severance papers are already signed on my end. I’m just not ready to hand them over. She needs to suffer first. She embarrassed you-I want her to pay.”

Ravenna giggled, delighted.

“So you’ll make her serve me? As what… an omega?”

Then, mock concern. “And if she finds the documents?”

He groaned, pulling her closer.

“She won’t. She’s too busy surviving. Forget her. Come here-do what you’re good at.”

I turned away before my knees gave out. Bile burned my throat, rage clawed through my veins, and tears stung my

eyes. I shook from head to toe, disgust twisting with fury until I could barely breathe.

Time passed slowly. Eventually, the chambers fell quiet, their breathing heavy and careless. I slipped inside, moving

like a shadow. I searched the bedside table first-nothing. Panic fluttered in my chest, but I forced myself to breathe.

I knew him too well.

The study.

I moved through the corridors soundlessly. The Alpha’s vault loomed before me. My fingers hovered, then entered the

code burned into my memory. A soft click echoed, and my breath hitched.

Inside were documents, ceremonial tokens, stacks of gold. And there-folded precisely-were the severance papers.

My freedom.

My hands trembled as I pulled them free. Tears blurred my vision as I signed, every letter uneven, every stroke a

release.

“No more,” I whispered. “No more cages.”

My tears splashed onto the page.

I dialed the number with shaking fingers. The ringing felt endless.

“The papers are done,” I said quietly.

Damien’s voice came through calm, controlled, lethal.

“Good. My people will handle the rest. Tell no one, Sera.”

The line went dead. His words lingered against my skin like the edge of a blade.

Less than an hour later, I slipped out into the rain. The territory border was close, the night swallowing me whole.

Cold air burned my lungs, and every shadow felt alive, watching.

A black vehicle waited near the edge of the neutral zone, just as promised. His lawyer stepped out-tall, composed,

respectful. He inclined his head slightly, as if I still held dignity worth honoring.

I handed him the documents, my hands shaking violently.

“From this moment on,” he said gently, “no Alpha owns you anymore.”

My tears returned-but these were different.

They tasted like release.

Like freedom.

The next two days inside Kael Thornwood’s pack house were torture disguised as tradition. Bright halls, ancestral

tapestries, endless space-and I felt suffocated, entombed alive. Kael pretended I didn’t exist. Ravenna and Asher

roamed freely, whispering, laughing, ensuring I never forgot my place.

Every night, Lily woke crying.

Her small, bruised hands trembled in mine as I soothed her, pressing kisses into her hair, murmuring that this pain

would pass. She watched me too closely, eyes too knowing for her age.

“Why doesn’t Papa come anymore?” she asked once.

I dodged. She saw through me.

Later, in the dark, she whispered, “I wish I had a different father. I wish I wasn’t made from his blood.”

Something inside me shattered. I held her tighter, hid my tears in her hair, and smiled when I spoke. I had to be strong

-for her.

Ravenna made sure I never had peace.

Once, she threw herself into the ceremonial pool and screamed. When Kael arrived, she accused me through sobs.

He struck me without a word, in front of the omegas, while she clung to him, coughing theatrically.

Another time, she scattered wolfsbane into her own food and cried poison. Kael dumped my plate onto the floor and

banned me from the table. I cleaned it up hungry while she smiled sweetly.

Another day, she twisted her own wrist until it bruised, ran to him in tears. He dragged me by the hair, slammed me

down, warned me never to touch her. Lily cried. Kael didn’t care.

Then she planted her necklace under my pillow. When she “found” it, Kael called me a thief, a disgrace, a failure of a

mother-in front of my child.

Meanwhile, he planned Asher’s extravagant shifting ceremony, praising Ravenna endlessly while ignoring Lily’s pain

entirely.

I wanted to call my father. I couldn’t. Kael had already bought his loyalty.

So I endured. I held Lily’s shaking hands and whispered, “Just a little longer. Damien will come.”

Lily whispered back, pale and exhausted, “Mama… I don’t want to be his daughter anymore. I hate how he chooses

Asher. I hate how they hurt you.”

I promised her a new life-even though I didn’t yet know how.

On the night of Asher’s ceremony, Kael left with Ravenna and Asher, howls of celebration echoing behind them. Lily

and I remained at the hospital for her final checkup.

Then the door opened.

Roman stepped inside with his wolves, smile sharp, eyes lethal.

“Damien is waiting.”
