Dethroning the Alpha King Who Dumped Me Chapter 05

Dethroning the Alpha King Who Dumped Me Chapter 05 Awakening in the Dark

Three days later, I gradually woke from the haze of unconsciousness.

Relying on my strong self-healing ability, I had finally pulled through.

But the penetrating wound on my shoulder still throbbed faintly. Every slight movement carried a dull, lingering pain.

Mira, the maid who had been guarding me by the bed, immediately stood up the moment she saw my eyes open. Her face was filled with joy.

“Luna! You’re finally awake! I’ll go inform the Alpha King right away!”

“Don’t go.” My voice was hoarse and weak as I stopped her. My tone remained calm. “Where is he?”

Mira hesitated, carefully choosing her words. “These past three days… the Alpha King has been staying by Miss Saria’s side. After the incident at the ball, Miss Saria’s wolf spirit became extremely unstable. She’s been very frightened, and the King hasn’t left her side.”

I slowly closed my eyes. As expected.

Even when I was on the brink of life and death, Jack’s heart and eyes were still only on Saria.

I was never part of his considerations.

“I want to rest a bit more,” I spoke softly, without any emotion.

Mira nodded obediently. Just as she was about to leave quietly, a deep, familiar voice came from outside the door.

“Elsa? You’re awake?”

It was Jack.

“I heard you’ve regained consciousness. Are you feeling better?”

Mira was about to open the door, but I raised my hand to stop her.

I didn’t respond, letting the man outside quietly wait.

After a moment of silence, his voice came again-no longer as domineering as before, but carrying fatigue and deliberate guilt.

“I’m sorry. I was careless that day and didn’t protect you properly. I’ll make it up to you-

anything you want, I’ll agree to it.”

I listened quietly, my heart filled with contempt and ridicule.

Compensation?

He was always like this-casually using shallow apologies and empty compensation to erase all harm.

I slowly spoke, my voice hoarse. “How is Saria?”

Jack paused noticeably outside the door, then his tone softened instantly, filled with unconcealed concern. “She was badly frightened. Her fever hasn’t gone down, and her wolf spirit is still unstable. The doctor said someone must stay with her at all times for her to feel safe.”

“So you’re going back to take care of her, right?” I finished his unfinished sentence calmly.

A brief silence followed.

“Elsa, just wait a little longer,” Jack said, his voice carrying a trace of perfunctory comfort. “Once her wolf spirit stabilizes completely, all my time will be yours.”

I let out a soft laugh and didn’t bother replying.

In my previous life, I believed him countless times-waiting humbly, only to receive betrayal and death in the end.

In this life, I no longer cared at all.

After a long silence, I heard his footsteps gradually fade away down the corridor.

Only when I confirmed he was truly gone did I slowly sit up. The wound on my shoulder still ached faintly, but it was nothing compared to the coldness in my heart.

“Luna, you should really rest properly,” Mira said anxiously, quickly helping me up.

“Bring me a cup of wolf blood essence,” I said calmly. “I need to recover my strength as soon as possible.”

I had to heal myself. In six days, I could not miss the Fallen Dust Ruins secret realm.

That night, under the deep silence of the castle,

Jack was still guarding Saria’s quarters and had no time to spare for my condition. I took advantage of the emptiness and quietly slipped into his room alone.

I began packing away the old things that once carried all my love and devotion.

A pair of wolf-engraved cufflinks bearing our names. A rare spirit crystal I had risked my life to find for him. A stack of letters I had written with sincere affection.

These were once my most treasured possessions, gifts given with all my heart-but he had stored them neatly in a wooden box, never truly valuing them.

I placed everything into a cloth bag, my heart unusually calm.

Those years of wholehearted devotion now looked absurd and laughable.

I finally understood completely-someone who does not belong to you can never be won, no matter how much you give.

At last, I left a letter.

In it, I simply stated that I had already requested the Moon Goddess to dissolve the mate bond, and that I had secured their opportunity to formally sever the contract.

Then, without hesitation, I turned and left. I walked out of Vesta Castle’s gates and stepped into the heavy night without looking back.

This time, I did not turn around.

Goodbye, Jack.

From this moment on, I will live only for myself-and personally rebuild the glory of the Blue Moon Pack.
