Dethroning the Alpha King Who Dumped Me Chapter 04 The Ball That Broke Me

The ball was held as scheduled at Ravencrest Castle.

I stood alone in the most secluded corner of the banquet hall, completely out of place amid the lively noise and commotion.

Lowering my gaze, I gently swirled the blood wine in my glass, watching everything with cold indifference.

The focus of the entire hall had never been me, the Luna.

It had always been that shameless pair…

In the center of the crowd, Jack stood tall and noble, while Saria beside him wore a silver-white gown studded with crushed diamonds. The hem shimmered under the lights, dazzling and radiant.

She clung tightly to Jack’s arms, every movement carrying a sense of declaration and possession.

The two of them danced in perfect sync, drawing countless admiring gazes from all around.

Everyone knew it—he only loved the omega Saria.

“So the rumors are true. There’s absolutely no affection between His Highness Jack and this Luna.”

“She only has the title of Luna. She can’t even keep the Alpha’s heart. In the end, she’s just a decoration.”

Faint whispers drifted into my ears, but I showed no reaction.

At this moment, my mind was calculating the Fallen Dust Ruins secret realm-it was my only hope right now.

“Luna.”

A teasing male voice came from behind me. An alpha from another pack approached. “Such a grand ball, yet you stand alone in the corner, watching your Alpha favor someone else. That must hurt, right?”

I smiled faintly and ignored him.

The man was about to continue mocking me when a powerful Alpha pressure suddenly swept through the hall, instantly freezing the air around us.

Jack strode over with Saria in tow, his expression cold and commanding.

“What did you just say to my Luna?”

Just that single question made the other Alpha stiffen completely, trembling under pressure.

Under the absolute dominance of the top Alpha King, he didn’t even dare lift his head, hurriedly bowing in apology before retreating in panic.

The surroundings fell silent again.

I looked calmly at Jack’s possessive stance and found it almost amusing.

In my previous life, I had been trapped countless times by this contradictory behavior.

He would always choose Saria without hesitation, abandoning and neglecting me time after time—yet he would never allow anyone else to approach or covet me, his so-called Luna.

That twisted and selfish possessiveness had been the cage that bound me for years in my past life-and the source of all my suffering.

Jack leaned close to my ear, his tone carrying a deliberately gentle sense of guilt,”Elsa, I need to discuss something with you.”

“Go ahead.” My voice was calm.

“The exclusive Luna quarters,” he said as if it were only natural, “Saria needs to stay there for her wolf spirit to stabilize. I hope you won’t move in for now. You can move in after her condition stabilizes completely. I hope you understand.”

A cold laugh formed in my heart.

That was the highest residence reserved for the Luna-yet now it was being permanently occupied by an unnamed omega.

And he was asking the rightful owner to step aside.

I lifted my eyes and forced a gentle, obedient smile. “Of course. I don’t mind.”

Jack immediately relaxed and smiled with satisfaction. “I knew you were always understanding and generous.”

Suddenly, a sharp whistle tore through the silence of the ballroom!

“Watch out!”

A silver flash shot through the window, heading straight for Saria in the center of the crowd!

Jack reacted instantly, instinctively pulling Saria behind him and using his own back to block the deadly attack.

The silver arrow grazed his shoulder, drawing blood before embedding itself deep into the stone wall behind, still vibrating violently.

The crisis was not over. Immediately after, a second and third silver arrow followed, raining down densely across the hall.

The entire ballroom plunged into chaos.

In the confusion, a powerful force suddenly struck me from behind. I was shoved hard, losing balance and stumbling backward.

The next instant, a cold silver light struck from the side and pierced directly into my left shoulder!

A searing pain exploded instantly. The poison of the silver weapon rapidly invaded my wolf veins and flesh.

My vision darkened, agony flooding every limb, nearly causing me to collapse on the spot.

I clenched my wound tightly as warm blood continued to spill through my fingers. Even my self-healing ability couldn’t activate in time.

Through the chaos of the crowd, I forced my eyes open.

I saw Jack holding Saria tightly in his arms, gently comforting her in a low voice.

“It’s alright. Don’t be afraid. I’m here.” His voice was so gentle it could break one’s heart-but from beginning to end, he never spared me a single glance.

Only when someone shouted in panic, “Luna! You’re injured!”

did Jack abruptly look toward me on the ground.

A flash of shock and panic finally crossed his eyes as he rushed toward me.

But the overwhelming pain swallowed my consciousness completely. My world faded to black, and I fell deep into an endless abyss of darkness.
