They Forgot Me at the Courthouse on Divorce Day, Then Forgot to Tell Me They Got Back Together Chapter 06

The day the story shot to the top of every trending feed, I created an account. The handle @LenaEvans NHRP.

My first post was a single line. [Saturday, 8 PM EST. I’m going live. I’ll address everything]

The internet lost its collective mind Within an hour, the post had been shared tens of thousands of times.

Reminder notifications came in nonstop. By Saturday, over five million people had set reminders.

The comments were relentless.

Joh my god she’s actually doing it. this is going to be INSANE]

[lol she really thinks going live is going to help? this is just going to make it worse for her.]

[don’t count her out yet… what if the whole story flips? either way i’m watching]

I smiled at the screen and went back to work. By eight o’clock, I had everything ready. I hit “Go Live.”

My face filled the frame. The chat was already moving too fast to follow, messages scrolling by so quickly they were

barely readable.

[here she is. let’s see what excuse she comes up with this time]

[if she’s actually going live over this, maybe there IS more to the story?]

[honestly don’t even care who’s right anymore. i’m just here for the chaos]

“Hi. I’m Lena Evans, National Honors Research Program.” My voice was steady, and my face gave away nothing.

“I know this has taken up a lot of people’s attention, so I’m going to get straight to the point.” I clicked to the first slide.

The screen filled with a photo of the agreement. “On my eighteenth birthday, my parents told me they had no obligation to support me. They itemized every dollar they claimed they’d ever spent raising me and made me sign this.”

*$480,000. I’ve been paying it back out of my fellowship, month by month, since my first year in college.”

The chat erupted, but not everyone was convinced.

[idk… you’re an adult. maybe they were just trying to teach you responsibility?]

[cutting off your whole family over money seems extreme tbh]

I didn’t react. This was only the beginning.

I clicked to the next slide. A police report filled the screen.

“What most of you don’t know is that before I joined the program, I was kidnapped.” I looked directly into the camera.

“My parents came. And when they realized it was me, not my sister, they turned around and left. They told the

kidnappers I wasn’t worth the ransom.”

I let the silence hang. “I’ll let you decide what kind of people do that to their own child.”

The wall of text blurred, the tone shifting instantly.

[wait WHAT. they literally left her there???]

[hold on, how do we know this report is real? she could have faked it]

The skeptics weren’t gone, but they’d gotten quieter.

“I expected the doubt. So let me show you the proof.” I smiled, just barely, and clicked to the next slide.

First, the audio. The recording of my parents pressuring me to give blood, and the sound of their pens scratching across

documents they never bothered to read.

Then the hospital security stills: them physically dragging me into the surgical wing for a kidney procedure I never

consented to.

I showed the medical logs detailing the excessive blood draws, one after another, until I blacked out. Then, the official police transcript of Graham walking into the police station and confirming my identity.

And then, the part they didn’t expect, me standing in front of my family and telling them I forgave them.

[okay there’s no way to fake all of this. they signed voluntarily. this is damning]

[they drained her blood until she PASSED OUT and then tried to take her kidney?? these people are monsters]

[i would’ve cut them off years ago honestly]

The tide in the chat had started to turn.

[she forgave them after all that?? lena is a better person than me, this is heartbreaking]

I read the comment and said nothing. The best part was still ahead.
