My Brother Stole My Crown, My Fiancé Stole My Heart Chapter 02

My Brother Stole My Crown, My Fiancé Stole My Heart Chapter 02

When Sadie first saw the roomful of gifts Logan had given me, envy almost burned through her eyes.

She said I was lucky to have someone who loved me with his whole heart.

Then she made a wish. She wanted a Logan of her own.

At the Sacred Moon Ceremony, Sadie begged to come along.

Halfway through the ritual, the chandelier came crashing down. Ryker and Logan shielded Sadie without the slightest hesitation.

That was when their love had already begun to shift.

I just hadn’t wanted to see it.

When I returned to the pack house, low, breathless sounds drifted down the hall.

The air was heavy with the unmistakable scent of two wolves tangled together, and it was coming from my bedroom.

I shoved the door open.

Logan was shirtless on my bed, kissing Sadie like he had forgotten the rest of the world existed. Our framed photo had been turned facedown.

My hands trembled as I picked it up.

Then I tore it apart.

The old me would have screamed. I would have cried, fought, demanded an explanation.

But now, I only threw the pieces into the trash.

Then I turned and walked out.

Logan chased after me and grabbed my arm, panic roughening his voice.

“I couldn’t help myself. That’s why I took Sadie in there. Don’t bully her. She scares easily.”

A faint smile pulled at my lips.

One by one, I pried his fingers off me and looked at the face that had once been carved into the deepest part of my heart.

Now all I saw was a man who no longer belonged to me, a fated mate who had betrayed me, and a bond that had already broken beyond repair.

My whole body ached. I was shaking so hard I could barely stand, but I used the last of my strength to leave.

This place had stopped being my home a long time ago.

I picked up my black bag and headed for the door.

Sadie rushed after me once she had gotten dressed and grabbed my wrist.

Pain shot through me, sharp enough to clear my head.

“Wren, you still blame me for taking Ryker and Logan from you, didn’t you?” she sobbed. “But we never meant to hurt you. It’s not my fault they care about me.”

She cried like she had been wronged, but when she saw my face stay empty, she turned on Ryker and Logan instead.

“This is all your fault. You bullied her. Wren is the most important person in my life.”

“I’d rather leave myself than watch her get hurt. Hurry up and beg her not to go.”

The two of them fell apart the second they saw her tears.

“Sadie, you can’t get worked up. It’s bad for your body.”

“Whatever you want, we’ll give it to you.”

I watched them calmly.

It was almost funny.

After our parents died, the Elder Council schemed against Ryker. They took his Alpha title and seized our inheritance.

During the most helpless time of his life, I stayed by his side.

Ryker promised he would give me a good life.

He never let me suffer even the smallest injustice.

When Ryker found out I had been working part-time to make ends meet, he broke down.

“You should’ve told me,” he said, his eyes red. “You’re my little sister. You shouldn’t have had to worry about money.”

“I was supposed to protect you, Wren. I’m sorry I failed you.”

Later, Ryker rebuilt Silvercrest Pack, only to be targeted by his rivals.

I drove straight into danger to save him, and in retaliation, they broke one of my legs.

Ryker nearly tore the hospital apart when he found out. He went after every last one of them and made sure they paid for what they’d done.

Then he sat by my bed, eyes red, voice wrecked. “I’m sorry, Wren. I should’ve protected you. I swear to you, no one will ever hurt you like this again.”

For years, Ryker had been the person who stood between me and the world.

And Logan had been the person who stayed beside me when I was too broken to stand on my own.

He had always been quiet and steady.

When we were children, he was almost taken by rogues.

I threw myself at them and held them back with everything I had, buying him enough time to escape.

My right arm was sliced open because of it.

After that, Logan swore it would be his turn to protect me.

When my leg was broken, he promised he would become my legs. He said he would carry me across the world and show me every place I wanted to see.

Under his careful care, I slowly healed.

Then, at my graduation ceremony, he arranged a proposal so grand it felt like a dream.

I thought I was the happiest person in the world.

In the end, that had only been my own pathetic fantasy.

Sadie pushed Ryker and Logan away in anguish, begging them to make me stay.

I looked at the brother and the lover who had once revolved around me. Now every thought, every glance, every breath belonged to Sadie.

A suffocating wave of despair dragged me under.

“I never want to see any of you again.”
