My Brother Stole My Crown, My Fiancé Stole My Heart Chapter 01

My Brother Stole My Crown, My Fiancé Stole My Heart Chapter 01

For eighteen years, I was the Northern Territory’s untouchable princess—protected by my Alpha brother and cherished by Logan, the Alpha who was supposed to be my mate.

Then, on the day of my First Shift, they brought home another girl and told me the truth.

“Sadie is my real sister,” Ryker said. “You stole her place. You stole her title. We chose today to tell you because I wanted you to know what losing everything feels like.”

Logan looked at me with nothing but cold disgust.

“I slept with Sadie the day I proposed to you,” he said. “I’ll still form the mate bond with you, but my heir will only come from her.”

Ryker personally sent me into the Trial Cavern.

“You’ve enjoyed her life for more than ten years,” he said. “Now it’s your turn to take the punishment for Sadie. Consider it a blessing.”

Sadie was an omega I had sponsored for ten years.

To spoil her, Ryker and Logan forged a bloodline test and used their power to throw me into the Trial Cavern.

By the third time I came out of that place, I had learned my lesson.

They promised me, “As long as you behave, you’ll still be the princess of Silvercrest Pack.”

Ryker came to bring me home.

He threw my things into the trunk without a trace of warmth. Among them lay my favorite pink rabbit.

It used to sit in the passenger seat.

Now Ryker pointed to the back.

“You sit there. The front seat belongs to Sadie. If you mess it up, she’ll throw a fit again.”

I froze for a second, then said nothing. I curled up in the back seat and made myself small.

The perfume in the car was so strong it made my head pound.

I had always hated the scent of perfume. Ryker never used to spray any in his car.

He glanced at me through the rearview mirror, his tone careless.

“Three years in the Trial Cavern should’ve fixed that spoiled little problem of yours.”

Then he added, “And stop looking so miserable all the time. You act like someone owes you something.”

I pressed my lips together and tugged my sleeve down, hiding the ugly scars around my wrist.

“Ryker,” I said quietly, “you know exactly who owes whom.”

For a moment, he went still.

Then his voice came out low and vicious.

“Wren, you stole Sadie’s place. Taking the blame for her is exactly what you deserve.”

A cruel smile tugged at his mouth.

“Honestly, Sadie is sweeter than you. More obedient, too. If it weren’t for you, she wouldn’t have spent all those years wandering outside the pack.”

“Even your boyfriend, Logan, can’t forget her. You’ve always been the extra one here. From now on, remember where you stand.”

His warning was flat and cold.

“Otherwise, I don’t mind sending you back in for another round of correction. Understand?”

My nails dug into my palms, the pain barely enough to hold back the nausea rising in my throat.

My voice came out hoarse and broken.

“Ryker, you really are impressive. You forged a bloodline test just to bring Sadie home, so why keep pretending this is justice?”

The car slammed to a stop.

Shock flashed through Ryker’s eyes. For one brief second, panic crossed his face, the panic of a man whose lie had been exposed.

Then he recovered, let out a cold laugh, and his voice came through the mindlink like ice.

“Wren, Sadie suffered her whole life. Unlike you, she wasn’t born with an ancient bloodline and a life of privilege. The first time I saw her, I wanted to give her the best of everything.”

“You sponsored her because you wanted to parade your pity around and feel noble. Sadie is insecure and sensitive. The only way you’ll ever understand her pain is by living the life she had.”

Something inside my chest shattered.

When Sadie was bullied, I used my own allowance to help her. I protected her, cared for her, and paid for everything she needed.

She once told me she envied my life.

So I was stupid enough to bring her back to the pack house.

Everything I had, I gave her a piece of it.

I just never imagined she wanted my family and my mate, too.
