He Gave Me a Divorce, I Gave Him Ruin Chapter 04

He Gave Me a Divorce, I Gave Him Ruin Chapter 04

I exported the receipts and travel itineraries for the luxury goods and private trips Ethan had bought for Chloe, then saved them into two encrypted folders.

The first was addressed to a columnist at the New York Chronicle, the one famous for digging up celebrity scandals.

The second was for Mr. Abernathy, the most old-fashioned and reputation-obsessed member of the Sterling family trust committee.

My finger hovered over the send button.

After a two-second pause, I opened my browser.

The insults and mocking memes were still everywhere online. On any random thread, I could find the photos of me being mobbed at the hospital, twisted into ugly reaction gifs.

And Chloe’s post, a masterclass in feigned innocence, was still pinned to the top of her page. It was timestamped the day my father died.

“Chloe: The truth doesn’t need to be loud. Thank you to everyone who believes in me. I hope those living in resentment can find their own light.”

The comments beneath it were a nauseating chorus of praise.

“She’s being harassed by a crazy person and still handles it with such grace. It must be so hard.”

“This is what real class looks like. A world away from Amelia, who just plays dirty for attention.”

“Hugs for Chloe. Ethan finally looks like he can breathe when he’s with you.”

I smiled and sent both emails.
