The Alpha Never Stopped Trying To Claim Me Chapter 08

The Wolf Council’s verdict came out fast. They not only uncovered Maya’s collusion with rogues, but also found that Lucian had completely shirked his duties during his time as Alpha. Now both of them were facing judgment. Lucian was stripped of his Alpha title and reduced to a regular wolf, while Maya was banished from the pack.

When the news reached me, I was helping Seth set up our new home.

I didn’t feel a thing.

Some people were just meant to be passersby in your life.

Lucian later sent someone to ask for a meeting. I turned him down flat.

When Seth found out, he just pulled me into his arms and whispered, “You don’t have to see him if you don’t want to. I’ve got you. No one’s gonna bother you.”

A few days later, I got one last text from Lucian.

[Serena, I was wrong. I really know I messed up now. I lost everything, and I finally get it—you’re my only fated mate. Can you give me one more chance?]

I stared at the message, didn’t reply, and just blocked and deleted him right away.

A chance?

He never gave me a chance when he left me alone in the wedding house on our Mating Day.

He never gave me a chance when he let Maya take the passenger seat and moved my parents’ seats out.

He never gave me a chance when he lied to me and broke the Moon Goddess’ law.

Now that he’d lost everything, he remembered how good I was? It was too late.

Days with Seth were sweeter than honey, every single one.

He remembered every single one of my likes and dislikes.

I didn’t eat raw liver. Every pack feast, he swapped my portion for roasted venison ahead of time, then shoved the raw liver as far away from me as possible.

I loved stargazing. Every Moon Festival, he took me up to Wolf’s Peak, the highest point in the territory, laid out a fox fur blanket, and stayed up with me all night counting constellations—even taught me to spot The Great Wolf constellation, formed by our wolf ancestors.

I loved flowers. He brought me a fresh bouquet of Moon Lilies every day, and put them all over the house. Sometimes there were a couple of gray wolf hairs stuck to the petals—proof that he detoured to pick them early in the morning when he ran in his wolf form.

He never said sappy lines, but poured all his love into the little things.

Six months later, I got pregnant.

Seth was so excited he acted like a teen wolf who’d just shifted for the first time. He fussed over me every second, even worried I’d trip walking down the street.

He turned down every unnecessary Pack Council meeting, came home right on time every day to be with me, read bedtime stories to the baby, and sewed little clothes and toys for him.

On the Moon Festival after our son was born, it was his one-month-old celebration.

Seth held the baby, stood next to me, and said to everyone with full sincerity.

“Thank you all for coming to my son’s one-month party. The luckiest thing I ever did was wait for Serena and hold onto her when she needed me most.”

He looked at me, his eyes so soft they could drip water.

“Serena, thank you for accepting my claiming mark, thank you for giving me a family, and this sweet little boy. For the rest of my life, I’ll love you and protect you with everything I have—our little family will be happy forever.”

Loud applause filled the room again.

I looked at this Alpha, who had nothing but me in his eyes, then at our sweet baby in my arms, and a happy smile spread across my face.

That night, after the baby fell asleep, Seth wrapped his arms around me from behind, resting his chin on top of my head.

“Serena, I kept the promise I made you when we were kids—about the Mating Ceremony. And I’ll keep the promise to protect you for life, too.”

I turned around, wrapped my arms around his neck, stood on my tiptoes, and pressed a soft kiss to his lips.

“Seth… thank you… for loving me.”

He kissed me back, soft and full of love.

“No, thank you—for letting me love you.”
