Lucian was devastated. Maya had been taken away by the guards. The entrance, which had been noisy just moments before, finally fell silent again.

Seth took my hand and led me into our Longhouse.

There were no tedious wedding games, no awkward rituals—only the most sincere blessings, and the gentlest Mating Ritual.

He lifted my veil himself, his eyes so soft.

“Serena, I told you when we were kids—I was gonna give you a Mating Ceremony with no wrongs, only all my love. Today, I keep my promise.”

I stared at him, my voice catching in my throat. “Seth, why didn’t you tell me sooner?”

Why not tell me that he was my true fated mate?

Why not tell me that Lucian wasn’t worth it?

Why not tell me that I didn’t have to keep holding on to a wrong relationship?

He gently laced his fingers through mine and pressed my hand to his chest. His voice was low and soft.

“I was scared I’d mess with what you had. When you were with Lucian, your eyes lit up. I thought you were happy. All I wanted was to wait for you in the background, till you turned around.”

He paused for a second, then continued.

“I know you were with him for four years. I waited four years. Every year on your Moon Festival, I got moonflowers ready, but I could only give them to you as your childhood friend. Every time you fought with him and hid to cry, I stayed close by, too scared to show up—didn’t want you to think I was taking advantage of your weakness. Every year he left the territory with Maya on Moonless Night, I had men watch over you in secret, scared a rogue wolf would hurt you…”

Tears burst from my eyes again.

Turned out, those lonely days I thought I went through alone? I was never alone at all.

Turned out, somewhere I couldn’t see, there was a person—who’d quietly watched over me my entire youth.

Seth lifted his hand and brushed my tears away softly.

“Serena, I don’t want you to suck it up, I don’t want you to settle, I don’t want you to force yourself to be good. I want you to be petty, I want you to be clingy, I want you to be your real self with me. With me, you always come first—before the Pack, before everything.”

He pulled a Moon Stone Box out of his pocket and flipped it open. Inside lay a Mate Ring—simple in design but absolutely stunning. My initials were carved into the band.

“I’ve had this ring ready for five years. Today, I wanna ask you properly—Serena, will you be my Luna, and accept my mark?”

I stared at the sincerity and hope in his eyes and nodded hard. Tears blurred my vision, but I said those three words clear as day.

“Yes, I will.”

He slipped the ring onto my ring finger, slow and careful.

Then he leaned down—didn’t kiss my forehead. He just brushed the hair away from the side of my neck, exposing my Omega Scent gland.

“Serena,” he murmured, his voice thick with an Alpha’s natural possessiveness and softness. “I need to bite down. This is the claiming mark—from now on, the Moon Goddess witnesses it. You’re mine, and only mine.”

I closed my eyes and tilted my head to the side, baring my neck.

His lips touched the spot first, warm and gentle. And then—

The bite came.

After a short, sharp sting, a rush of heat spread from my neck all over my body. I could feel his Alpha essence flood my veins, like some ancient, irreversible bond.

The claiming was done.

When I opened my eyes again, there was a Silver Thread between us only werewolves could see—the Fated Bond.

Seth’s eyes held nothing but raw adoration and passion. He licked the tiny bead of blood off the bite mark, kissed the fresh imprint, then pressed his forehead to mine.

“My Luna. My forever.”

Loud applause broke out around us. My family and closest friends were all happy for me.
