Lucian’s face turned the color of ash, staring at me in disbelief. “Serena, do you have any idea what you’re saying? We’ve been together four years, you just call it off like that? All this just because of Maya? I already told you I’ll make it up to you, is this really worth throwing everything away over?”

“Worth throwing everything away over?” I laughed, cold and sharp. “Lucian, tell me—what would count as a big deal to you?”

I walked toward him step by step, every step firm and unwavering.

“On Mating Day, when you were supposed to pick up the bride, you left me alone in the bridal suite just for one of your warriors, told me the ceremony was just a formality.”

“In the procession, you made me ride in the last car, gave her the passenger seat next to you, and said she needed it because of her Moonless Night aftereffects.”

“At the main table, you moved my parents’ seats out to reserve the Honor Seat for her.”

“You leave the territory every single Moonless Night to stay with her, lied to me and said you were on patrol.”

“You gave the moon bloom, the necklace you prepared for me, all of it, to her.”

“You called me dramatic, called me generous, said I’d never walk out on the ceremony…”

With every word I said, Lucian’s face got paler.

Finally, I stopped right in front of him, every word clear and sharp.

“Lucian, you never once treated me like your fated mate. The only thing you loved was a well-behaved, obedient Omega who never causes you trouble. But I will never be anyone’s second choice. I will not be the shield you hide your affair behind.”

I lifted my hand, unclasped the moonstone necklace, and threw it hard right at his feet.

The necklace clattered across the ground, and it completely shattered the four years we’d had together.

“I don’t want this claiming anymore. From this day on, we’re done. No more ties between us.”

Dead silence fell over the crowd.

Maya’s face turned completely white. She never expected me to spill everything in public, and she panicked, trying to cling tighter to Lucian’s arm—only for him to yank it away from her.

Lucian looked at the necklace on the ground, then at my cold eyes, and finally panicked.

He wasn’t panicking about losing me—he was panicking that the ceremony would fall apart and he’d lose all face in front of the pack and his family.

“Serena, I was wrong… I’m really wrong, just stop this okay?” He lowered his posture, trying to grab my hand. “I’ll send Maya away right now, I’ll never talk to her again, we’ll finish the Mating Ceremony properly, I’ll do whatever you want…”

“It’s too late.”

Seth stepped forward, shielding me behind him again, and stared sharply at Lucian. He lifted his hand, and the air around us seemed to freeze solid—that was the True Alpha releasing his terrifying pheromones.

“Lucian, you have insulted the law of the Moon Goddess, and you have insulted Serena’s love. From the second you chose to put another Omega above your fated mate, and put your affair above your blood vow—you lost any right to have her.”

He paused, then raised his voice, loud enough for every wolf at the entrance to hear.

“Today, I, Seth, as True Alpha, and as the boy who guarded her growing up, say this clearly to every wolf here.”

“Serena is under my protection. No Alpha can force her to marry him if she doesn’t want to. And for the man she chooses to walk toward? I will give her the grandest Mating Ceremony this territory has ever seen.”

When he finished speaking, uniform applause suddenly broke out inside the Longhouse.

Everyone sitting inside was the closest family and friends Seth had invited early on, all the people I loved most. There were no strangers, no one here to gawk at my misfortune.

They looked at me, and all I saw in their eyes was sympathy and support.

My mother’s eyes were already red from crying. She walked over quickly and grabbed my hand. “Serena! I support you! If you don’t want to marry him, you don’t have to! We won’t put up with this garbage!”

My father walked over too, clapped me on the shoulder, and nodded solemnly at Seth.

Lucian stared at the scene, and his legs gave out completely. He crumpled to the ground.

He finally understood—I wasn’t throwing a fit. I really didn’t want him anymore.

Maya’s face went bone white. All her arrogant smugness was gone.
