Wyatt cared about her?

The thought drifted through her mind.

Strangely, she felt nothing.

No joy.

No pain.

No urge to know more.

It was like hearing a story about someone else’s life.

“Even if that’s true, it’s his business,” Lena said calmly. “It has nothing to do with me anymore.”

On the other end of the line, Hank was silent for a moment, then let out a long sigh.

It sounded almost like relief.

“Looks like you’ve really moved on. That’s good. After the way he treated you, even if he regrets it now, it’s too late.”

They talked for a few more minutes before hanging up.

A new week began, and her agricultural company officially broke ground.

Engineers, designers, and construction crews arrived one after another.

Today was her first official meeting with the core team.

She walked into the temporary conference room—a series of connected prefab units—and had just taken her seat at the head of the table when a commotion started by the door.

Several of the local contractors were whispering, unable to hide their excitement.

“It’s Logan! Logan Chase is really here?”

“I heard he was the chief consulting engineer for this project. I thought it was just a rumor.”

Lena instinctively looked up.

The next second, the man who had given her hot cocoa at the rodeo walked in, holding a stack of blueprints.

Today, Logan wore a crisp work shirt and khaki pants, looking even more professional.

He cut through the crowd, walked straight to the seat beside hers, and sat down as if he belonged there.

Lena instinctively shifted away.

Even if he was a partner, his directness put her on guard.

The smile on Logan’s face faltered for a second.

When it returned, it held an emotion she couldn’t quite read.

Something like nostalgia. And a little bit of pain.

He leaned closer, lowering his voice so only she could hear.

“Lena,” he said, “do you really not recognize me at all?”
