The Pregnant Wife Sacrificed by Her Family Chapter 05

The Pregnant Wife Sacrificed by Her Family Chapter 05

Elena’s eyes scanned the crinkled sonogram.

Amelia leaned in, her lips brushing against Elena’s ear as she whispered something.

I watched Elena’s face contort.

Her empathy vanished, violently replaced by visceral disgust. She dropped the sonogram onto the grass like it was infected.

She looked at me not like a victim, but like rotting garbage.

Elena ordered her team, her voice devoid of warmth. “We’re leaving.”

The social workers gasped. One grabbed Elena’s arm. “What? We’re live-streaming! We can’t just leave a pregnant woman being dragged by

her hair!”

“Turn the cameras off,” Elena snapped, refusing to look at me. “This is a domestic matter. She brought this on herself.”

In less than a minute, the human wall that had been my salvation dissolved.

Van doors slammed. Tires squealed. The neighbors, spooked by the lawyer’s sudden revulsion, retreated to their porches and locked their

doors.

I was entirely alone. Again.

The isolation was suffocating.

Every single person who learned the truth immediately turned into a monster. A fleeting thought crossed my mind as I lay on the

concrete: “Just let them kill you right here. End this nightmare.”

I let my arms drop limp. The exhaustion was absolute. I had fought so hard, survived the horrific secrets of my past, only to be crushed

right back down into the dark by my own family.

My family didn’t miss a heat. As the last neighbor disappeared, they closed the circle around me.

Noah surged forward, his heavy shoe connecting hard with my ribs.

“Still trying to play the innocent victim, Celeste?!” he roared, his face twisted in fury. “You know exactly what you are! You know exactly what you did!”

I curled into a ball, gasping for air. A searing cramp suddenly ripped through my abdomen. A warm liquid began soaking into my dress.

“I’ll abort it,” I choked out, a bitter sigh escaping my lips. “I’ll sign the divorce papers today. I’ll leave town and you will never have to look at me again.”

Amelia stepped closer. Her heels stopped inches from my face.

“Do you really think killing that abomination is enough?” she hissed, her eyes utterly dead. “Your existence is a sickening stain on this family’s image. Leaving isn’t enough.”

I forced my head up, trembling. “What do you want from me, Mom? Do I have to die?”

Noah’s jaw clenched. For a fraction of a second, he looked away. But Steven didn’t hesitate.

“Yes,” my brother said coldly. “As long as you’re breathing, none of us can be happy.”

Something inside me finally snapped.

The paralyzing terror evaporated, replaced by chilling clarity. If I was already dead to them, they had no power left to hold over my head.

I let out a low, bitter laugh. I pushed myself up onto my elbows, leaving a stark streak of crimson smeared across the concrete.

“Well, you’re out of luck,” I whispered, staring dead into Steven’s eyes. I pointed to the dark crimson stain on my dress. “You don’t need to

drag me downstairs to butcher me. It’s already dying.”

They froze. The sheer volume of blood momentarily paralyzed them.

I didn’t wait for them to process it. Shaking violently, my vision swimming, I pulled out my phone and ordered a rideshare. I forced myself

to my feet.

“I’m going to the hospital,” I announced, my voice eerily calm. “I’ll handle the surgical removal myself. And then I am gone.”

I dragged my bleeding body into the backseat.

The sterile lights of the emergency room blurred above me.

“We’re so sorry,” the ER doctor said softly, examining the ultrasound monitor. “The physical trauma was too severe. There is no fetal heartbeat. We need to perform a D&C immediately.”

Tears spilled down my pale cheeks, but a broken laugh escaped my lips.

“Good,” I gasped, clutching the stark white sheets. “Get it out of me. Every second it remains inside my body, I feel like I’m rotting.”

The doctor gave me a confused, pitying look, but I didn’t care.

Two agonizing hours later, I was discharged.

My body felt paper-thin and violently aching, but my mind was laser-focused.

I had to get back to the house, pack my bags, and leave.

I took a cab back and quietly unlocked the front door.

It was pitch black. Quiet. Completely empty.

I exhaled a ragged breath, stepping softly into the hallway.

Before my fingers could graze the light switch, a rough hand clamped aggressively over my mouth from the shadows.

A heavy burlap sack was violently yanked down over my head, plunging me into suffocating darkness.

“Got you, you sick bitch,” a gruff, unfamiliar male voice growled in my ear.

I thrashed wildly, screaming into the rough fabric, but my post-op body had zero strength left. He twisted my arm, sweeping my legs out

from under me, and dragged me across the hardwood floor.

“Stop fighting,” the thug spat, kicking me in the spine. “Your mother told me exactly what kind of filthy whore you are. I don’t even know

if the traffickers at the docks will want damaged goods like you, but I’ll beat the fight out of you first to make sure.”

My heart flatlined.

They hadn’t stopped. Amelia had hired a thug to finish the job.

He hoisted me up by the hair, slamming my head against the drywall. A dizzying wave of nausea washed over me.

The exhaustion was absolute. I had fought so hard, survived a brutal rebirth, only to be crushed right back down into the dark by my own

flesh and blood.

I closed my eyes beneath the hood, waiting for the final, fatal blow.

Instead, the heavy oak front door smashed open with a deafening crash.

The thug gripping my hair was abruptly yanked backward. Heavy fists collided with bone, followed by a sickening crunch and a thud against the floorboards. Grunts, shattering glass, and the frantic sounds of a brutal struggle echoed through the dark hallway.

I collapsed onto the floor, gasping for air.

Suddenly, warm hands grabbed my trembling shoulders. The choking sack was forcefully torn from my head.

Through my blurred, tear-filled vision, a figure knelt anxiously over me, heavy boots planted firmly on the floorboards, chest heaving with adrenaline.

I blinked against the sudden light, my blood freezing as I stared up at the face of my unexpected savior..
