‘Sterile’ Mate, Pregnant Mistress? Zero Fucks Given—I Took His Pack Instead Chapter 03

‘Sterile’ Mate, Pregnant Mistress? Zero Fucks Given—I Took His Pack Instead Chapter 03

I took her bait. Hook, line, and sinker.

“Fine. I’ll hunt it.”

The wolves around me looked like I’d just clawed out their hearts.

Marcus grabbed my arm hard. “Sloane, don’t-they’re fucking degrading you!”

“For real!” Derek slammed his fist on the stone table so hard the chalices rattled. “Garrett can’t treat you like this. This is

fucking insane. Don’t submit. We’ll scrub blood for a goddamn moon cycle if that’s what it takes.”

I shook my head.

“It’s fine. One last hunt. That’s it.”

Four hours later I came back drenched in rain and blood, holding a fresh deer heart wrapped in cloth. Looked like hell.

Garrett was sprawled on the Alpha’s throne. Amber was curled up on his lap.

She saw me and put on this fake sweet voice. “Garrett look! Sloane really hunted the deer!”

Garrett saw me and his expression softened slightly. He reached for the bundle.

“Good. You already went, so shift back and eat with us.”

I didn’t even look at him. Just headed for the den stairs.

“SLOANE.” His voice turned feral. “I’m talking to you.”

I shoved the chamber door open.

The room looked completely gutted. Like I’d never denned here.

Mrs. Silvermane was hunched in the corner clutching a small wooden box. She looked terrified.

“Beta Nightwhisper, I’m sorry. Miss Thornveil wanted this chamber. She made us clear out all your belongings.”

She opened the box. Her hands were shaking bad.

“Miss Thornveil-she destroyed everything. Shredded things. Just tossed it all in the bonfire pit.”

“I know this collar was sacred. I pulled it from the ashes.”

I stared at it. My throat burned.

That collar. Garrett hunted for the leather the day we first claimed territory together.

He’d tracked through a blizzard to find the perfect pelt. Got his leg torn up by a rogue.

But he still smiled and said, “Sloane, I’m gonna hunt you something better every season. I’ll always protect you.”

Later the pack got too big. He never hunted me anything better.

But I kept that collar.

“Thanks Mrs. Silvermane.” I took the charred collar and walked back downstairs.

Garrett saw me and his face went dark. “What the hell?”

“Goodbye.” I dropped the ruined collar on the table.

“Here. All yours.”

“Sloane.” He saw it and grabbed my wrist. Snarling.

“What the hell? You know how hard I hunted for that? How many times I bled?”

“Yeah I messed up. But you didn’t need to burn it.”

I looked at Amber.

“I didn’t. She did.”

Her eyes instantly filled with tears.

“Sloane I get it, you’re upset about me and Garrett. But we’re bonded now. Can’t you move on? Why are you lying?”

“Lying?” I didn’t raise my voice. “Want me to call Mrs. Silvermane up here?”

CRACK

He backhanded me so hard I stumbled into the wall. My cheek split open,

“Sloane.” His eyes were wild. “Apologize to Amber. Right now. Do that and I’ll forget about the collar.”

Amber ducked behind Garrett, flashing me this smug little smirk.

I closed my eyes. God, I was pathetic. Still trying to defend myself when I knew he didn’t give a shit.

My face was still bleeding but I held it together. Breathed.

“Garrett. The bond severance is done. And I returned your collar.”

“We’re finished. That’s it.”

I turned and walked out into the rain.

Behind me I heard a chair crash. Someone roaring.

I didn’t look back.

The next night I went to the pack council for my bond release documents.

Diana was practically begging me to stay, calling Garrett to try one more time.

Garrett was at the healer’s den for Amber’s pup examination. He barely let her finish talking before he snarled.

“Territory patrol is Amber’s now. Whatever she says, goes. She’s carrying my heir.”

“The Alpha seal is in the vault. You need bonds approved? Do it yourself. Don’t call me.”

Click.

Diana’s eyes were wet. She stamped all thirty-two severance papers.

Then Amber’s halfblood friends got loud. They wanted us to hear.

“I mean, who cares how strong she was in fights? Couldn’t keep her Alpha. Can’t even carry a pup. What’s she good for?”

“Right? Amber knew what she was doing. Got knocked up right away. Some she-wolves are bonded forever and nothing. Like, what’s the point?”

My wolves looked ready to challenge someone.

I raised my hand. “Don’t. Let’s just go.”

That evening at moonrise, me and thirty-two pack members crossed into Frostclaw territory.

At the same time, Garrett was with Amber at the healer’s den.

His phone kept buzzing. Finally he stalked into the hallway and answered, pissed.

“Why the fuck are you blowing up my phone?”

“Alpha-something’s really wrong.” His second-in-command sounded freaked out. “Allied packs are saying our territory proposals are total garbage.”

Garrett frowned. “What? Sloane handles those herself.”

“Sloane severed bond.”

Silence.

“Who authorized that?”

no

“And what about the rest of patrol? Units A and B? Thirty-two wolves can’t handle some proposals?”

The second’s voice cracked.

“Alpha… Miss Thornveil demoted the entire patrol unit to den servants. They were scrubbing floors. You didn’t know?”

“And last night? All thirty-two severed. Miss Thornveil said she’d approve it if Sloane hunted her deer. This morning everything got stamped. They all left with Beta Nightwhisper.”

“They crossed into Frostclaw territory tonight.”
