‘Sterile’ Mate, Pregnant Mistress? Zero Fucks Given—I Took His Pack Instead Chapter 01

‘Sterile’ Mate, Pregnant Mistress? Zero Fucks Given—I Took His Pack Instead Chapter 01

My cursed Alpha mate knocked up his ex-mate.

He was losing his mind with joy. Thought he could hide it till the pup came.

But I caught them at the pack healer’s den.

“Why?! I just brokered you the ALLIANCE WITH BLOODRIVER PACK! WHY?!”

He shoved severance of the mate bond papers at me.

“You can’t bear an heir, Sloane. Amber can. She’s carrying my pup. She needs an Alpha.”

“Walk away quiet, you keep your Beta rank. Fight me? You’re omega.”

I said no.

He had me silver-chained in the holding cells. Froze my pack assets.

Then he bound my parents to the Moonfall Tower with silver.

“Sign, they live. Don’t sign, they fall.”

I was on my knees. Crying. Signing. Begging him to let them go.

He cut the chains anyway.

I watched them shatter midair. Their blood hit my face.

“NO-!”

Next thing I knew, I woke up back on the day he handed me those papers.

This time? I threw the mate bond severance AND my Beta resignation in his face.

“Done.”

The second I said it, Garrett Ashenfang-my Alpha mate -laughed.

“Wait-I’m severing our bond and you think quitting’s gonna change my mind? That’s your play?”

He grabbed a ceremonial blade and sliced his palm like he was opening junk mail. Pushed the blood marked papers across the

table.

“I tried being nice. You blew it. You wanna do this the hard way? Fine. But don’t come crying when I ruin you.”

Then he walked out. Didn’t even look back.

I stared at the door and suddenly I’m thinking about five years ago when we were starting out.

All those territorial negotiations where I’d down silver-laced drinks for him because his wolf rejects it, drinking till I puked blood and woke up in the healer’s den.

For three years I busted my ass for him. Never took a moon off. Secured insane alliances. Made Emberfang Pack a powerhouse.

At the ascension ceremony he held me and cried.

“Sloane, you know the moon cursed me, right? Can’t sire an heir. Not ever. But you still accepted the bond. You mated my broken wolf anyway and helped me build all this.”

“If I ever betray you-I mean it-I hope a silver bullet finds me and I die in the dirt. I swear on the Moon Goddess.”

Last time around, I believed him.

I really thought after everything we’d been through, we’d make it.

Even when I found out he was fucking around. Even when that girl got pregnant.

I still thought he’d come back.

Till he had me chained. Till he killed my parents.

That’s when I figured it out.

Mate bonds break. Wolves turn rogue.

I ran my thumb over my resignation letter.

Not this time.

You wanna go feral? We’re done.

I called my parents.

“Mom, Dad, listen-I’m establishing a new den in Boston and I really need you guys to go out there first. Just scope the territory, make sure it’s secure, okay?”

“I’ve got some pack business to wrap up here but I promise I’ll be out there in two weeks. Please? I need you guys safe.”

They didn’t ask questions. After I hung up, I handed the mate bond papers to my pack lawyer.

Then I went back to the den to pack my shit.

But when I pushed the door open, some pregnant twenty two year old halfblood was sitting in MY Beta chair

“Sloane.” my subordinate Lila Swiftpaw came up behind me, eyes red as hell, voice shaking.

“Garrett made the call this morning. He’s giving Amber Thornveil your rank. She hasn’t even passed her trials yet. But there’s

more-”

“What?”

Lila’s claws dug into my arm. “Your tribute. Those three hundred silver marks you earned securing Bloodriver? She’s taking Said it’s hers now.”

She looked sick. “And your whole unit-all thirty-two wolves-she’s demoting them to den servants. They’re scrubbing blood off the training floors. Starting today.”

My claws cut into my palms.

Those thirty-two wolves built this pack from nothing.

Marcus Stonehowl-three years ago he fought seventy-two hours straight and collapsed mid-shift. He’s battling wolfsbane poisoning now but he’s still first one on patrol every morning.

Derek Shadowpelt-tracked a rival pack for three days to secure an overseas alliance. Just claimed his mate. Didn’t even take his bonding moon off, just kept hunting…

How many blood pacts had these thirty-two wolves secured? How much territory had they brought under Emberfang control?

Miles. Probably more.

And not once did they challenge rank. Not once did they abandon post.

They just kept showing up every night, bleeding for the pack, completely loyal to wolves who didn’t even respect them.

And now some spoiled halfblood wolf’s making them scrub floors?

What a fucking joke.

The den doors banged open. A bunch of college-age halfbloods in designer jackets came strolling in, laughing.

One guy with bleached hair sat down at Marcus’s desk and knocked his daughter’s photo onto the floor.

“Yo this den is sick! Amber’s Alpha’s loaded. Paying us like fifty silver marks and we don’t even have real patrol. Show up whenever, leave whenever.”

I felt my face go white.

A few moons ago the unit fought three months straight to secure that alliance with Bloodriver Pack.

At the victory feast I finally asked Garrett if we could grant everyone a rank increase worth five silver marks.

He threw his chalice.
