The Pregnant Wife Sacrificed by Her Family Chapter 04

The Pregnant Wife Sacrificed by Her Family Chapter 04

My blood ran completely cold.

The jagged puzzle pieces of my previous life instantly snapped together.

“Are you people out of your minds?!” Roxy yelled at my family. “Why the hell are you trying to force an abortion?*

She pulled me firmly behind her bodyguards, her fierce gaze softening. “I’ve got you, Celeste. I’ll protect you no matter what.”

She glanced at my trembling hands. “Did you see something wrong with that sonogram?”

I quickly shoved the paper into my pocket.

I forced a bitter smile and shook my head. “No,” I lied, though my overwhelming panic was obvious.

Roxy frowned. “Don’t lie to me, Celeste. Look at them. They look like they want to kill you.”

Amelia scoffed, her eyes filled with disgust. “Stop playing dumb, you delusional little bitch.”

Before Roxy could yell back, a police cruiser pulled up behind her SUV. Two officers stepped out. Roxy had called them.

Instantly, Amelia’s vicious glare vanished. “Officers, I am so sorry for the disturbance,”

she sighed, seamlessly morphing into a heartbroken mother. “My daughter is suffering from severe pregnancy-induced psychosis.”

The officers exchanged a look.

The taller officer stepped closer, looking directly at me.

“Ma am?’ he asked, his tone cautious. “Do you need our help?”

I looked at my mother. Beneath her polite facade, the cold hatred in her eyes was unmistakable.

I dug my fingernails into my palms to keep from breaking down.

“Officers,” I said, my voice shaking.

Everyone froze. I stepped out from behind Roxy.

“It’s a misunderstanding,” I lied, staring at the concrete. “My mother is right. It’s my hormones. I panicked. They were just trying to help

me.”

Roxy whipped around, horrified. “Are you insane? They were physically dragging you!”

“Stop it, Roxy!” I yelled. “Just leave me alone! Stop meddling in my marriage!”

The officers visibly relaxed. “Alright, let’s keep it quiet from here on out,” the taller one said. They got back into their cruiser and drove

off.

Roxy stood paralyzed. She looked at me, deeply betrayed. “You’re making a massive mistake.”

“Just leave,” I whispered.

She signaled her guards and got into her car. “Call me if you survive this,” she said coldly.

Then, she drove away.

My only shield was gone.

The silence on the lawn was suffocating.

Amelia didn’t waste a single second. She stepped up and slapped me hard across the face.

My vision flashed white. I hit the pavement, tasting copper in my mouth.

“You ungrateful bitch,” she hissed. “Making a scene in front of the whole neighborhood.”

Noah sneered, grabbing a fistful of my hair and jerking my head back. “Did you really think your little friend could save you?”

Steven stepped up and kicked me squarely in the stomach.

A blinding pain shot through me. I curled into a ball, gasping for air as a warm liquid began to pool restrictedly in my lower body.

The pain paralyzed me completely.

But I didn’t scream. I didn’t even try to shield my stomach.

Knowing the horrifying truth behind this pregnancy, my heart had turned to ash.

I let my arms fall limp, completely giving up. I didn’t try to fight back. I didn’t even care if the baby survived anymore.

“Drag her inside,” Noah ordered.

Steven grabbed my arms. They began dragging me toward the heavy front door.

However, a community transit van and two sedans aggressively blocked our driveway.

A dozen women poured out, wearing badges from the local Women’s Crisis Center. Several neighbors trailed behind them, holding up their phones, recording the scene.

A woman in a sharp blazer-their lead attorney-marched straight up the lawn.

“Take your hands off her! Now!” she demanded.

Before Steven could process it, the lawyer physically shoved him away and pulled me up. In seconds, the social workers formed a tight

human wall around me.

“Are you insane?” one worker yelled at Noah. “We got multiple calls from the neighbors. We’re livestreaming this right now!”

I flinched, shrinking away in pure terror from glaring camera lenses.

Noah and Steven cursed, shielding their faces as they were forced to step back and retreat from the lenses.

The lawyer knelt beside me, her voice firm and reassuring. “I’m Elena. You’re safe now. We’re going to get you out of here, file a

restraining order, and take this straight to a judge.”

The crowd of neighbors and workers loudly murmured their agreement, shouting condemnations at my family.

Yet, Amelia wasn’t panicking. She wasn’t hiding from the cameras.

Her face held a light, almost mocking smile.

“Do you really think you’re doing a good deed here?” Amelia asked quietly.

Elena stood up, glaring. “I know domestic abuse when I see it. What you did is abhorrent. We are taking her.”

Amelia didn’t argue. She just smiled wider.

She reached down, picked up the crumpled sonogram I had dropped during the beating, and gently pressed it against Elena’s chest.

Read it,” Amelia said softly.

As Elena frowned and took the paper, her eyes scanning the medical data printed at the bottom, my breath stalled.

My heart felt like it was seized by a massive, invisible hand.
