After I Left, His Empire Collapsed Chapter 37

After I Left, His Empire Collapsed Chapter 37

The question caught me off guard.

Leo was newer in HR. Young. But capable. Sharp. He’d helped me more than once navigating life in a new country.

And objectively? He was the office heartthrob. Tall. Fit. A smile that made the workday fatigue melt away. Nothing like Dylan’s permanent scowl. The one that suggested the world owed him money.

“He’s great,” I said. “Talented. Good-looking.”

“But Mr. DeVries. Why the question?”

He gave me a look. A little too knowing.

“Excellent. I knew you had taste.”

“Leo is my son. His mother is American. He told me recently. The moment you walked into the office, he was gone. Head over heels.”

“So. He wants to take you to a movie tonight. Don’t let the opportunity slip.”

He pressed two tickets into my hand. Grinned. Disappeared out the door before I could respond.

I looked at the tickets. Slipped them into my pocket.

A new life. Maybe new people weren’t such a bad idea.
