He Wanted a Nanny, I Returned As the Alpha King’s Luna Chapter 06

David commanded the room in a hand-tailored black suit. The sheer force of his presence had every wolf in the hall instinctively bowing their heads.
In his arms, he held a little boy with a solemn face. The boy looked to be only two or three, yet a powerful Alpha aura radiated from him—a clear sign he was destined to be a top-tier Alpha. Right now, though, he was just looking around nervously.

Mattew was still in front of me, rambling, “I can take you back… just as long as you promise to take good care of my son…”

I had to fight the urge to roll my eyes.

Who wanted to take care of his son?

Claire scurried forward a few steps, flashing a fawning smile at David. “Alpha King, we’ve just caught a thief! She stole your Luna’s necklace! I’ve already taught her a lesson—”

“Mommy!”

A joyful cry from the boy cut her off.

In front of everyone, the little boy in David’s arms wriggled free and ran straight to me, crumpled on the floor.

Everyone froze.

“Mommy…” Leo stopped in front of me. When he saw the cuts on my face, the blood on my lips, and the wounds on my hands, his eyes instantly went red.

His voice was choked with tears, but his gaze was fierce. “You’re hurt! Who bullied you?”

Shocked murmurs rippled through the crowd. “The Alpha’s son called her ‘Mommy’?”

“Does that mean she’s the real Luna?”

Mattew stood frozen, speechless.

Claire just shook her head, muttering, “Impossible, impossible. How could she…”

“Sweetheart…” I tried to lift my hand to touch Leo’s head, but a sharp pain shot through it, making me wince. The ugly bruise where I’d been stomped on stood out starkly against my skin.

Leo’s tears fell faster. “Bad guys! They’re all bad guys!”

Just then, David walked over.

You could feel the displeasure rolling off him in waves.

I felt a mix of fear and resignation.

He used to practically want me tethered to his hip, and it got even worse after I became pregnant. If it hadn’t been for an urgent matter this time, and my insistence on traveling alone, he never would have let me out of his sight.

I remembered the time I got a paper cut, and he was so worried he fired the entire household staff.

He was going to lose his mind this time.

Seeing his father, Leo immediately let out a loud, miserable accusation. “Daddy! Bad guys hit Mommy! Mommy’s hurt…”

“I know,” David’s voice was soft, a sure sign he was barely holding back his fury.

He reached out, gently cupping my face. When his eyes locked on the clear handprint on my cheek and the cuts on my hands, his pupils shrank to pinpricks.

The temperature in the entire hall seemed to drop by several degrees.

“How did you get so messed up the second I’m not by your side?”

“Daddy…” Leo suddenly pointed to the floor. “What’s that?”

He picked up the largest shard of the Moon’s Tear from the ground. Pointing to his personal mark on the back, he said in his little-boy voice, “Isn’t this the present you gave Mommy?”

David knew how much I cherished that necklace.

He gently traced the raw, red line on my neck where the chain had been ripped away. His voice trembled. “Does it hurt?”

The Alpha King’s rage made the entire hall tremble. The marble floor beneath his feet began to crack.

“Tell me,” he growled, “who hurt you?”

The look of pure pain in David’s eyes shattered my defenses. The composure I had faked crumbled away.

I threw myself into his arms, sobbing, “You’re finally here…”
