My Mafia Husband Smelled Like His Secretary, Who Turned Out To Be My Half-Sister Chapter 02

After I got Anna down for a nap, I went back to the master bedroom.

The balcony doors were wide open. Kotor’s cold night air poured in.

Jacob leaned against the railing, looking over some shipping documents. A soft smile crossed his face as he spoke into his phone.

“Alright. You’ve worked hard these past few days. Get some rest.”

He’d never talked to any subordinate that gently.

My mind flashed to Sophia.

I ignored him and walked straight into the bathroom.

When I came out, he wrapped his arms around me from behind. His voice was warm above my head.

“Did you miss me?”

I pulled away gently. “I’m tired tonight. Let’s just sleep.”

The second I turned, he grabbed my wrist and yanked me back.

One eyebrow went up. His tone turned cocky.

“I’ve been dealing with shipping routes for days. I come home to romance you, and you blow me off? You want me to go romance my mistress instead?”

Years of running Kotor’s underworld had made him comfortable with these kinds of jokes.

He thought that just because of his position in the Kavac family, I should always be ready to please him.

The second time I pushed him away, the amusement in his eyes died.

“You mad? There’s nothing between me and Sophia. If you don’t like her, I’ll never bring her around you again…”

He leaned in to kiss me.

The mood was supposed to be intimate. All I felt was cold.

“Jacob, please. Don’t touch me.”

When he heard the tears in my voice, his face went dark.

“Polly, I’m still in the mood to make up with you. Don’t push it.”

I stood there. My hands slowly curled into fists.

When he saw I wasn’t backing down, he just picked me up and threw me on the bed like I weighed nothing.

In the dark, his anger simmered. He let that Don’s authority press down on me.

“You want to keep your seat as Donna? Then don’t throw tantrums.”

My whole body went rigid.

Eventually, the tears came silently.

The next morning, Anna ran up and kissed my cheek. “Mom! Daddy’s taking me to the amusement park today!”

I was surprised. Jacob never liked us going to crowded public places. And he definitely never took Anna anywhere himself.

But there he was, smiling at her. “Let’s go, my little Principessa.”

They’d barely left when that weird feeling in my chest got worse. I went to the Kavac family’s private hospital.

When I got the pregnancy results, I just stood there frozen.

The doctor beamed. “Congratulations, Donna. You’re four weeks pregnant. Just be careful—no intercourse for the first three months.”

I grabbed the report and left. In the car, I broke down crying.

I used to love Jacob. For the first two years of our marriage, I thought having his baby would keep his heart.

So I got pregnant with Anna.

He did spend more time with me then. He doted on me, asked about every little thing.

It was like when we first started dating.

Until the day Anna was born.

I was terrified in that delivery room. And he went radio silent.

I found out later. He was with his mistress that day.

At the most expensive hotel in Kotor. Playing around for hours.

I hated him for it. But now… I didn’t have any love or hope left.

Some of the family elders told me to have another baby.

“A Don in Kotor’s underworld will always have women around. Give him a few more kids, and your seat as Donna will be solid.”

The Kavac family didn’t have a boy yet. If I gave them an heir—Jacob would have no reason to make things hard for me.

Right. You can’t fight your own interests.

And I had Anna. She was my whole world.

I pulled myself together. Stuffed the report in my bag. Rushed back to the estate and made dinner myself, waiting for Anna to come home.

But night fell. I called Jacob ten times. No answer.

Finally, I grabbed my keys and went to find them myself.
