My Husband Faked His Death Chapter 07

He stared at me and fell back on his old excuse. “Lily and I are just good buddies.”
I shrugged. “The kind that sleep together, don’t cause trouble, and aren’t clingy.”
The guests at the memorial were dumbfounded.
After all, seeing the supposedly dead person show up alive and caught up in a scandal—that’s something you don’t see twice in a lifetime.
Jake finally lost his composure. Humiliation and anger flashed across his face. “Mia, you knew I wasn’t dead, and you still went to the SSA to have me declared dead. You did that on purpose, didn’t you?”
“Yes.” I didn’t care that he’d figured it out. I wanted him to pay.
“If you want to get your legal status back, you still need me. Jake, I’m giving you two choices.” I handed him a divorce agreement.
“Sign it, and you can come back to life. Don’t sign it, and you can stay a dead man on paper.”
Jake’s chest heaved. He snatched the agreement, flipped to the asset division section, and threw it on the floor. “Why should I walk away with nothing?”
