The Donna Left, The Don Went Crazy Chapter 11

Alexander lay in the hospital ICU for a week.

His dreams were filled with the past. His first meeting with Ivy, her vows at the wedding, and the desperate look in her eyes as she lay on the operating table.

When he woke up, the room was empty, No flowers, no fruit, and certainly not that familiar figure. Only the bodyguard who had brought him in had left a payment bill and gone.

After being discharged, he didn’t dare appear in front of Ivy again.

Like a rat in the gutter, Alexander rented an old apartment opposite Gabriel’s estate. His only joy every day was peeping at her life through a telescope.

He saw her planting tulips in the garden, sunlight spilling on her face, her smile so brilliant. It was a smile she never had during the three years she was with him.

Gabriel was right beside her, handing her the shovel, wiping her sweat. That picture of peaceful years stung his eyes and made him realize just how thoroughly he had lost.

Alexander spent the last of his money to buy a loose diamond. He cut and set it himself, making it into a necklace. Inside, he implanted a micro-tracker.

He thought this was the only protection he could offer her.

Just as he was preparing to find an opportunity to send the gift, a bizarre figure appeared in the telescope’s field of view.

In the bushes on the outskirts of the estate lay a beggar in tattered clothes.

The person’s face was covered in terrifying scars, limbs twisted, looking like a crawling monster.

But he recognized who it was at a glance-Elena. She hadn’t died. She had crawled out from the pile of corpses and chased them here with a belly full of venomous hatred.

She clutched a homemade Molotov cocktail tightly in one hand and a rusty, homemade pistol in the other. Her cloudy eyes stared dead at Ivy in the garden, filled with malice and madness.

His heart contracted violently.

No!

Alexander threw down the telescope and sprinted downstairs like a madman.

At the estate gates, Ivy and Gabriel were just about to get into the car. Elena, that lunatic, suddenly sprang from the bushes, emitting a beast-like roar.

“Die! You all die!”

She raised the gun, the dark muzzle aimed at Ivy’s heart.

“Ivy! Look out!”

Alexander screamed with all his strength, his body reacting faster than his brain.

He lunged forward violently, shielding Ivy and Gabriel beneath him the instant the bullet fired.

Bang!

A loud noise.

A tearing, burning agony exploded in his back. Warm liquid instantly gushed out, staining Ivy’s pure white dress red.

“Alexander!” Ivy’s terrified scream exploded in his ears.

immediately following was a barrage of gunfire. Gabriel’s bodyguards reacted swiftly, turning Elena into a sieve. The madwoman collapsed in a pool of blood, dead for good.

Alexander lay on top of Ivy, his strength draining away rapidly.

He struggled to lift his hand, wanting to touch her face, but seeing his blood-covered hand, he cowardly pulled it back.

“Cough, cough…”

He coughed up blood, looked at the tearful Ivy, and struggled to force a smile.

“This time… it’s my turn to save you…”

“I don’t owe you anymore… Ivy… now, we are even…”

His vision went completely dark.

When he woke up again, it was half a month later.

Alexander had luck on his side; the bullet missed his heart by two centimeters.

The ward door was pushed open, and Ivy walked in.

She was wearing a pale blue long dress and looked healthy.

He struggled to sit up, but she held him down.

“Don’t move.” Her voice was calm, devoid of the previous hatred, and devoid of the former love.

“Ivy…” He looked at her greedily, his eyes burning. “You came to see me.”

Ivy stood by the bed, looking at him quietly.

“Alexander, that shot canceled out all the grudges.”

“I don’t hate you anymore. Because hating someone is too tiring, and you are no longer worth wasting my emotions on.”

Alexander’s heart sank bit by bit. He reached out a trembling hand. “Then we…!’

“We are finished. Completely finished.”

She interrupted him, her tone resolute and relieved.

“Heal well. Take care.”

With that, she turned and walked toward the door.

There, Gabriel was smiling, waiting for her. She naturally took his arm, and the two smiled at each other, walking out of his world.

Sunlight spilled through the window onto the empty hospital bed.

Alexander watched their retreating figures, and a single tear slid from the corner of his eye, landing on the pristine white sheet.

This was the end.

He would spend the rest of his life in endless regret, watching over the lover he had lost with his own hands.
