The Donna Left, The Don Went Crazy Chapter 06

The Donna Left, The Don Went Crazy Chapter 06

Elena had recovered well enough, but the restlessness in Alexander’s heart refused to settle.
She was still begging him to stay by her side, but his patience had finally run dry.

He turned on his heel and strode toward Ivy’s hospital room.

For some reason, a sense of unease was growing inside him like weeds.

As he passed Elena’s attending physician’s office, the door was slightly ajar. The voices drifting out made him freeze in his tracks.

“Just inject me with a little more of this compound. Create the illusion of critical condition, and the Don will lose his mind completely. That bitch Ivy’s blood will be drained dry sooner or later….” It was Elena’s voice, dripping with a toxicity that was unrecognizable to him.

“But Miss Elena, if we are discovered…”

“What are you afraid of? If anything happens, I’ll take the heat. As long as that bitch Ivy dies, I will be the only donna. You’ll get your cut.”

Alexander’s blood froze in his veins.

He kicked the door open. The loud crash made the two conspirators jump in terror.

When Elena saw it was him, the malice on her face instantly dissolved into panic and fear. “Don… let me explain…”

He strode forward, drew the Glock from his waistband, and pressed the cold barrel against her forehead. His voice was like shattered ice. “Explain? Explain how you bribed the doctor? How you gambled with your own life just to make sure Ivy dies?”

Elena collapsed to the floor, trembling as she grabbed his pant leg. “I was wrong, Don… I just loved you too much… I was jealous of Ivy…”

He looked at her face and suddenly felt a wave of nausea. If not for the bullet she had taken for him six months ago, he would have pulled the trigger right then and there.

“Get out.” He holstered the gun, pulled a check from his jacket, and threw it in her face. “Take the money and get out of Sicily. Never let me see you again.”

He didn’t want to waste another second on her. He had to see Ivy. Immediately.

He ran toward Ivy’s ward like a madman.

But when he pushed the door open, only deathly silence and an empty bed welcomed him.

The air still held the faint scent of blood and antiseptic.

Where was she?

He grabbed a passing nurse and roared, “Where is the patient from this room? Where is the donna?”

The nurse went pale with fright. “Don… Miss Ivy has already been discharged…”

Gone? After he had hurt her for another woman, she had just left without a word?

Panic, like a tidal wave, swallowed him whole.

He turned and grabbed one of the family’s most trusted doctors, who had just walked out of surgery.

Seeing Alexander, the doctor’s eyes were filled with terror and evasion.

“Where is she? Why did you let her leave? She was critically injured!” Alexander grabbed him by the collar, practically snarling.

The doctor’s hands shook as he pulled a bloodstained surgical record from his file and handed it to him.

“Don… I’m sorry… we did our best.”

His voice trembled violently. “Miss Ivy… she had a miscarriage.”

A bomb went off in Alexander’s brain, leaving nothing but white noise.

He stiffly took the paper. Every letter on it felt like a dagger stabbing into his eyes. Dilation and Curettage Consent Form. Ivy’s signature was there—scrawled, messy, but absolute.

“The baby… is gone?” He muttered to himself, feeling as if a piece of his heart had been gouged out raw.

It was the child they had always hoped for.

And he, for the sake of a lying woman, had personally killed their child.

He shoved the doctor aside and stumbled out of the hospital.

At the entrance, a row of black armored sedans waited. An elderly woman in a black trench coat, her hair silver-white but radiating immense authority, stood there leaning on a dragon-head cane.

It was his mother. The true donna of the family.

Before Alexander could even find his footing, she stepped forward and slapped him hard across the face.

Smack!

Blood instantly trickled from the corner of his mouth.

“You incompetent fool!” His mother’s voice wasn’t loud, but it carried undeniable pressure. “Your father nearly destroyed this family for a cheap whore years ago! I thought you were smarter than him, but it turns out you’re even stupider!”

Alexander’s head was knocked to the side, the taste of rust filling his mouth.

“Mother…”

“Shut up.” She struck the ground hard with her cane. “Follow me to the underground interrogation room. I’m going to show you exactly what kind of trash you’ve been protecting.”

Like a child who had done wrong, the Don was escorted into the car by his mother’s enforcers.

In the monitoring room, his mother showed Alexander the footage on the monitors.

On the other side of the glass, Elena was sitting in a chair, leisurely fixing her makeup in a compact mirror. Where was the fear and pity she had shown at the hospital?

She took out an encrypted phone and dialed a number.

Her voice came through the speakers clearly to their side.

“Hello? It’s done.” Elena’s voice was laced with smugness and greed. “That idiot Alexander is completely wrapped around my finger. Not only did I drive Ivy away, but their brat is dead too.”

Alexander stared at the glass, his fists clenched so tight his knuckles cracked.

From the other end of the line came a man’s rough laughter—the voice of their family’s mortal enemy. “Good job, babe. I knew you wouldn’t let me down.”

Elena giggled. “So when does the final payment hit my account? I suffered a lot to play out that ‘damsel saving the hero’ scene six months ago. If I hadn’t worn a Kevlar vest beforehand, I might actually be dead.”

“Don’t worry, the money is yours. You know what to do next.”

“Of course. I’ll stay by his side until I hollow out the entire family…”

The truth hit Alexander like a sledgehammer to the skull.

It had been a setup from the very beginning.

Her frailty, her deep affection, even the so-called life-saving act—it was all a carefully designed trap to bring down the family.

And he, like a fool, had danced in the palm of her hand, hurting Ivy—the woman who truly loved him—over and over again for her sake.

He could no longer control the violence raging inside him.

He rushed to Elena’s room, raised his foot, and violently kicked the door open.

Bang!

The massive noise made Elena scream and jump, dropping her phone.

She looked at him in horror, as if she had seen a ghost. “Don… you… how…”

He walked toward her, step by step, his eyes filled with nothing but bloodthirsty murder.
