I Was the Wrong Girl in His Bed, Now I Own His Empire Chapter 01

I Was the Wrong Girl in His Bed, Now I Own His Empire Chapter 01

“Yeah… right there. Faster!”

On prom night, I was pinned against the cold glass by Bryson Ventresca, completely falling apart beneath him.

He was the brightest star on campus. Captain of the hockey team. Young master of the Ventresca family. Rumor had it he was the future heir to Boston’s underground empire.

That night, his scent wrapped tightly around me, swallowing me whole. When desire overtook him, his rough breathing brushed against my ear.

Hot enough to make me foolishly believe…that maybe, finally, I was being loved.

The next morning, I woke up in his arms.

Sunlight poured through the windows. He was still asleep. His black dress shirt lay scattered across the carpet, and the obsidian family ring on his wrist reflected a cold, dark gleam.

Face burning, I gathered my clothes and slipped quietly out of the room.

But the second I stepped into the hallway, laughter drifted over from the group of rich boys at the far end.

“Heard Bryson gave the room key to Alina last night?”

“No shit. Alina and Bryson are actually a perfect match. Future Don of the Ventresca family and the heiress of a Boston billionaire family.”

“Unlike Jasmine the fatty. Just looking at all that fat kills my appetite.”

“And she seriously chased Bryson around for two years? If it were me, I would’ve filed a restraining order already.”

The group burst into laughter.

And I froze.

The blood in my body turned cold inch by inch.

So the key card that had mysteriously appeared in my bag… had never been meant for me.

So the name Bryson had breathlessly murmured over and over in the middle of the night… wasn’t Jasmine.

It was Alina.

I clenched my clothes so tightly my nails nearly dug into my palms. Humiliation crashed over me like a tidal wave, drowning me completely.

After that day, I disappeared entirely from Bryson Ventresca’s world.

Six years later, my first film, Daydreaming, got blocked during review.

Investors pulled out. The distributor vanished overnight. Even the theater chains that had already agreed to screen it suddenly started avoiding me.

Everyone in the industry knew it.

Someone was deliberately suppressing me.

My manager had run out of options. In the end, she dragged me to an underground drinking party.

“Once we get in there, be smart about this.”

She lowered her voice.

“The Don sitting in the center booth isn’t someone you can afford to offend.”

“Ventresca Films is completely under his control now.”

“I heard he has deep connections upstairs. Nearly two-thirds of the industry’s review approvals go through him.”

“As long as he nods his head, your movie survives.”

I listened quietly, but my fingers slowly tightened around the wine glass.

Nobody had told me that the mysterious new president of Ventresca Films, the one transferred back from overseas known only as “BV”…was Bryson Ventresca.

My one-night stand.

The moment the private room door opened, the heavy scent of cigars and alcohol hit me in the face.

Under the crystal chandelier, a group of men in tailored suits sat around the card table.

And right in the center sat Bryson.

He lounged lazily against a black leather sofa, his black shirt slightly open at the collar.

On his hand rested the black-and-gold cross ring that symbolized power within the Ventresca family.

A cigar burned between his fingers. Several bodyguards dressed in black stood behind him.

Everything about him radiated the dangerous pressure of a man who had ruled from the top for years.

The instant our eyes met, my breathing caught sharply in my throat.

The wine glass in my hand nearly slipped.

But Bryson only glanced at me indifferently.

His gaze was so cold, so unfamiliar, it was like he had never met me before in his life.

And only then did I suddenly realize something.

I was no longer the 150 lbs girl from six years ago.

Six years had been enough to completely remake me.

Quietly, I let out a breath of relief. But the people beside Bryson were already frowning.

“Who let her in?”

“Bryson hates women throwing themselves at him. Don’t you know the rules?” another man sneered.

“Probably another actress sent over by some entertainment company.”

“She wants to climb into the Ventresca Don’s bed? She should check whether she’s even qualified first.”

Laughter rippled through the room.

Bryson calmly lit his cigar. Then he slowly lifted his eyes toward me.

Cold.

Detached.

Like he was looking at someone completely insignificant.

I suppressed the storm of emotions rising in my chest and raised my glass with a smile.

“Sorry for the intrusion. That was rude of me.”

“Don Ventresca, I hope you won’t mind.”

Then I tilted my head back and finished the entire glass in one gulp.

The liquor burned all the way down my throat, leaving my eyes stinging.

From the corner of my vision, I caught Bryson frowning ever so slightly.

But he still said nothing.

I set down the empty glass.

“My name is Sienna Davenport. I’m a new actress. Recently, I filmed a movie called Daydreaming…”

Before I could finish, someone beside him interrupted impatiently.

“Enough already. Spare us the act.”

“The actresses before you were way bolder. Some of them practically stripped naked, and Bryson didn’t even bother looking up.”

“You should know when to quit and get out.”

“If Don Ventresca actually gets angry, even the company backing you won’t survive.”

Even though I’d prepared myself mentally, my chest still sank hearing those words.

I looked toward Bryson in the center of the room.

From beginning to end, he simply sat there smoking, like a high-and-mighty Godfather judging someone utterly beneath his notice.

I lowered my eyes, “Sorry for disturbing you.”

I turned to leave.

Then suddenly, behind me, came a low, lazy voice.

“Daydreaming?”

Bryson flicked ash from his cigar before finally looking up at me.

“Sounds familiar.”
