I DRUGGED the Ruthless Billionaire for One Night of Passion Chapter 06

My mom called me.

My parents divorced when I was in high school. They were both wealthy, yet neither was willing to take care of me. So they each moved out, leaving me alone in the big house with a live-in housekeeper to take care of me. They both started new families soon after.

Until I turned 18, they deposited a generous monthly stipend into my account every month. The second month after my 18th birthday, I never got another penny from either of them. More than ten years had passed, and I had never received a single phone call from either one. I didn’t even know where they lived. Or if they were still in this city.

And now she was on the phone, all friendly. “Zoe, are you free to grab a meal sometime?”

I figured the universe was taking pity on me, wanting me not to die completely alone. I went to the restaurant she’d named.

When I walked into the private dining room, she was already sitting at the table with a little boy next to her. He looked about ten. She waved at me like she was excited to see me.

“Zoe, come here. Let me get a look at you.” She pointed at the boy. “This is your little brother, Tyler Hunter. Tyler, say hi to your sister.”

I stared at the boy coldly. His face showed clear resistance. My mother patted his shoulder and pushed him. “Say hi!”

I shook my head. “Forget it.”

Within five minutes of sitting down, I learned that my mother knew how to smile. She said I’d grown up and gotten pretty. Then she put a hand on her chest and said, “I always knew you’d grow up to be independent. It seems you’ve gotten along just fine all these years.”

I had no idea where she got that idea. But I didn’t want to sit there anymore.

“I thought you left this city a long time ago.”

She nodded, looking at her son with this sweet, loving smile. “I did. I came all the way back just to see you and Tyler.”

Ten years. She came all the way back just to see me. A wave of nausea washed over me.

“Excuse me. I need to use the restroom.”

I threw up in the bathroom until there was nothing left. When I came out, dizzy and unsteady, I stumbled into a solid chest. Then I heard a familiar voice.

“Zoe, you’ve been drinking heavily. Do you even care about your own life?”

I looked up to confirm what I already knew. I tried to keep my legs steady. “Save your concern.”

Ethan grabbed my wrist. “You told my mom you were off traveling? I’d love to see who you’ve been hanging out with all this time.”

I smiled. “Fine.”

When I walked back into the room with Ethan, my mother’s face fell.

“Zoe, who’s this?”

“A friend.”

Ethan’s eyes went back and forth between us. He figured it out immediately. I thought he’d leave. Instead, he sat down and pulled me into a seat next to him.

My mother looked even more uncomfortable. “Zoe, I was hoping we could talk privately. Just the two of us.”

She was telling him to leave. Ethan acted like he didn’t notice and poured himself some tea. “Don’t mind me. Go ahead.”

Seeing how uncomfortable she was, I decided to cut to the chase. “Mom, it’s been more than a decade since you last reached out to me. I know you have a reason for this, so just speak your mind.”

She bit her lip, and tears welled up in her eyes. “Zoe, your brother is really sick. Please, get tested. See if you’re a match. You have to save him.”

There it was. I knew she would never come without an ulterior motive. Ethan sat there quietly.

I closed my eyes. “What do you need from me?”

Hope lit up her face. “A kidney! Please, save him!”
