His Childhood Sweetheart Poured Glue on Me and Pushed Me into the Pool: I Never Show Mercy to Traitors Chapter 06

When I woke up again, I was staring at a white hospital ceiling.

My entire body was wrapped in thick bandages.

Rowan sat by the bed, eyes bloodshot.

When he saw me open my eyes, he leaned in quickly.

“Iris, you’re awake? Does anything hurt?”

I shook my head weakly. My throat was too raw to speak.

Rowan gently moistened my lips with a cotton swab.

“The doctor said thirty percent of your skin has severe chemical burns. Your calf muscles are badly torn.”

“You were SO close… so close to permanent scars and losing your legs.”

His voice trembled by the end.

I looked at him, tears sliding silently down my face.

“Rowan, I was so STUPID. I fucked up everything.”

“I shouldn’t have walked away from my family for some guy.”

Eight years ago, I hid my identity as the eldest daughter of the wealthiest family in the capital. I insisted on helping Dane build his empire from nothing.

My parents were furious. They said Dane was a ruthless opportunist.

I was young and stupid. For “true love,” I ran away from home and cut myself off financially.

For eight years, I lived with Dane in a ten-square-meter basement, eating day-old bread.

I pulled investors for him. I wrote proposals until my eyes bled.

I pulled him out of the gutter and made him SOMEBODY.

And after he succeeded, he kicked me into hell.

Rowan sighed and gently patted my head.

\”Silly girl. You’re home now. That’s all that matters. Leave the rest to me.”

The hospital door opened. The head bodyguard walked in and bowed respectfully.

“Mr. Knight, Dane’s making moves.”

Rowan’s eyes sharpened, his commanding presence returning.

“Speak.”

“He dragged Chloe back to his office. He’s been asking around about us.”

“He’s trying to pull strings to have you arrested.”

Rowan let out a cold laugh, eyes full of mockery.

“Arrest me? Go ahead and try.”

He stood, adjusting his cufflinks.

“Notify all banks under the Knight Group. Call in EVERY loan to Steele Group immediately.”

“Send word to our partners: anyone who does business with Steele is making an enemy of me, Rowan Knight.”

“Oh, and send the evidence of Dane’s tax evasion to the Economic Crimes Unit.”

The bodyguard left to carry out the orders.

I leaned back against the pillow, listening to Rowan’s commands, feeling nothing but calm.

Dane valued his career above all else.

He thought he was a business genius.

He had no idea that without me pulling strings behind the scenes for eight years, he would’ve crashed and burned a hundred times over.

Now, I was taking back everything that belonged to me-with interest.

Within two hours, Steele Group was destroyed.

Dane sat in his CEO office as his phone rang nonstop like a death knell.

“Mr. Steele, bad news! The investors pulled out of the South District project!”

“Mr. Steele, the bank’s here with a seizure notice. They say we breached contract. They’re freezing our accounts!”

“Mr. Steele, the tax bureau’s at the front desk. Someone reported us for cooking the books!”

Dane panicked. He shot up, knocking over his coffee.

“What the hell is happening? Who’s targeting me?!”

His assistant stood trembling at the door, swallowing hard.

“Mr. Steele, I made some calls.”

“The one going after us is… the wealthiest man in the capital. Knight.”

Dane froze, eyes wide in disbelief.

“Knight? I don’t even KNOW him! Why is he destroying me?!”

The assistant glanced at him carefully.

“I heard… it’s because last night, you offended his sister.”

Dane’s mind exploded.

Sister?

The only person he wronged last night was Iris.

Iris-the woman who lived on scraps with him for eight years.

The one who couldn’t afford a single designer piece.

How could SHE be the heiress to the Knight fortune?

He collapsed into his chair, shaking like a junkie in withdrawal.
