I Died In The Fire While He Married My Best Friend Chapter 09

Zachary knelt on the ground outside Ms. Harper’s house for three hours.

Then he went home.

The mansion was silent.

Olivia was sitting on the living room couch, her eyes swollen and red.

The moment she saw Zachary return, she hurried toward him.

“Zachary…”

Zachary didn’t look at her. He walked straight toward the study.

“Zachary, where did you go last night? I kept calling you, but you wouldn’t answer.”

Zachary stopped. Then he turned and looked at her with eyes as cold as ice.

“Seven years ago, the night after senior finals ended, Serena disappeared.”

His voice had no emotion in it. “Where did the letter you gave me come from?”

Olivia’s face went deathly pale. She took a step back.

“Zachary, why are you asking about that?”

“I asked you where that letter came from,” Zachary said, enunciating every word.

“She left it in her room,” Olivia said, forcing a smile. “I went in to pack up some things, and it was

right there on her desk.”

Zachary stared at her.

Then he laughed.

“Olivia.”

“Serena is dead. She died in the science building that night.”

Olivia sucked in a sharp breath. Her legs gave out, and she collapsed onto the floor.

“That’s impossible…”

“If she was dead, how did she go back to the dorm room and write that letter?” Zachary advanced on

her step by step.

“And how did the older school security guard see her get into some older man’s car?”

He crouched down and grabbed Olivia by the throat.

Olivia’s face turned red instantly, and her hands slapped wildly at his arms.

“Who wrote the letter? Who paid off the security guard?” The veins stood out on the back of Zachary’s hand, and his eyes were filled with murderous rage.

“It was you, wasn’t it?”

Olivia shook her head desperately as tears spilled down her face.

“Talk!” Zachary suddenly tightened his fingers.

Olivia’s eyes rolled back, and a broken sound forced its way out of her throat. “It was… me…”

Zachary let go at once.

Olivia collapsed onto the floor, coughing violently.

“Why?” Zachary looked at her.

“Because I loved you!” Olivia lifted her head, her face soaked with tears.

“I loved you so much. My family had money. I could help you build your company. But all you ever saw was Serena!”

“What was so good about her? She was just an orphan. She would only drag you down!”

“I only hired someone to copy her handwriting and write that letter. I only gave the security guard ten grand to lie.”

“I never thought she would die!”

Zachary closed his eyes. His body trembled uncontrollably.

So this was the truth.

He had hated Serena for seven years. He had given all his tenderness to the real culprit. He had married the woman he now saw as her killer.

Suddenly, he turned and slammed his fist into the wall. Blood streamed down his hand.

He couldn’t feel the pain. He walked to the coffee table and picked up the paring knife lying there.

Olivia screamed in terror.

Zachary walked to the floor-to-ceiling window.

He pressed the knife against his wrist.

I watched him drag the blade down.

Blood rushed out, but he didn’t seem to feel any pain. He only stared at the spreading pool of blood.
