To be honest, Christopher wasn’t the only one who was surprised. I was surprised as well.

During all those years with Lucian, because of his elevated status, I had always restrained my true self.

I’d forgotten what it felt like to just be me. The freedom of it was intoxicating.

What I didn’t expect was that I had only blocked Lucian on social media during the day, and that very evening,

Victoria sent me a message.

[Ms. Miller, I suggest you apologize to Mr. Vance. He has already prepared the lawsuit documents. He said that if you don’t return, he will sue you for fraud.]

My fingers tightened around my phone.

For a moment, I thought Lucian had uncovered some dark secret of mine.

But in the next second, Victoria sent me a screenshot of a platinum credit card.

[Ms. Miller, let’s be practical. The lifestyle you’ve enjoyed for a decade was funded by him. The courts will see it as debt. You’ll be required to repay every penny.]

Seeing her message, I let out a mocking smile.

I immediately sent Victoria a voice call.

“Lucian, you’re standing next to Victoria right now, aren’t you? Didn’t she tell you that I never used that card

even once?”

“Shocked? For ten years, I lived in your places on my few salary. I paid my own way. Every. Single. Month.”

“Lucian, I spent ten years loving you sincerely. But you believed that you were keeping me with money. Victoria says I spent ten years idling around in your company.”

“Why don’t you ask your employees how many late nights I worked, how much performance I delivered, and

how much labor I put in?”

“You thought I wanted that manager title to trap you? God, you’re so blind.”

“I wanted it because I earned it! Ten years at Vance Enterprises, and I was your top performer.”

“Yet you kept me on an entry–level paycheck. For a decade.”

“Where’s the respect in that? Where’s the basic fairness?”

“You accused me of ‘pillow talk‘? This is what that looks like?”

“Burning myself out for your company, only to be left helpless when my own mother needed heart surgery!”

“For those three days, you thought I was throwing a tantrum. Did you know my mother died? She died

because we had no money for treatment.”

“Isn’t that ridiculous? I was the girlfriend of a billionaire, yet I couldn’t even pay my own mother’s medical bills.”

“I loved you, Lucian. With everything I had for ten years.”

“But you? You’re not worth a single second more of my life. If you have any decency left at all, you’ll leave

me the hell alone.”

After saying that, I hung up and blocked Victoria on both social media and her phone number.

These were words I had wanted to say to Lucian for a long time.

But he had never wanted to hear them.

The only person he trusted was his secretary, his right–hand woman, Victoria.

Yet after ending the call, a sense of relief surged through my chest.

I was relieved that I had always insisted on a fair relationship with Lucian and never spent a single cent of

his money.

And in that clarity, I knew, with every fiber of my being, that walking away from Lucian was the smartest thing

I’d ever done.
