Wrong Number, Right Alpha Chapter 06

After dinner, Hayden insisted on driving me home himself.

Inside the car, silence filled the space between us.

After a while, King Hayden glanced at me and suddenly spoke.

“Gamma Cora, can I ask you something?”

“Go ahead.”

“What would you do if someone broke up with you because they misunderstood you?”

I laughed softly.

“Then obviously, you clear up the misunderstanding.”

“How?”

“You spend more time with them,” I answered casually. “Let them see you’re not actually the kind of person they think you are.”

Hayden stared at me intensely for several seconds before the corner of his lips slowly lifted.

“Got it.”

For some reason, he suddenly seemed like a completely different person.

The gloomy heaviness around him disappeared, replaced by a strange brightness in his eyes.

Even though we weren’t close, seeing Hayden visibly cheer up because of my advice somehow made me happy too.

The next morning, before I’d even gotten out of bed, Finn called me.

“Cora! Wake up! I need your help!”

I rolled my eyes instantly.

“What now, Alpha Finn? Shouldn’t you be busy dating your mate instead of calling me this early?”

“Please,” Finn practically begged. “I don’t know what got into Hayden, but he suddenly decided to inspect the packs in Orlando and do some sightseeing while he’s there. And for some reason, he specifically requested that you come too.”

“Not going.”

“Come on! Hayden said if you go, he’ll double the investment into our pack!” Finn paused dramatically before throwing out another temptation. “And I’ll double your year-end bonus too!”

I sat upright immediately.

“Deal. When are we leaving?”

“Now.”

I hurriedly packed a suitcase and caught the next flight to Orlando.

By the time I arrived, Hayden had just landed too.

Before coming, Finn repeatedly warned me that Hayden was extremely picky and had to be treated perfectly.

So I brought Hayden to the best hotel in Orlando and booked two luxury suites.

After putting down our luggage, we were supposed to head straight to the pack we planned to visit.

But because everything this morning had been so rushed, I hadn’t even eaten breakfast yet.

My stomach was practically growling.

Just as we were walking out, Hayden suddenly stopped and looked toward Nick.

“Wait. Let’s eat first.”

My chest warmed unexpectedly.

Hayden always looked cold and untouchable on the outside, but honestly…

He was surprisingly considerate.

After eating, we headed to the pack we were visiting.

The local Alpha personally guided us around while I occasionally stepped in to explain things and exchange information with the pack’s Gamma.

By the end of the visit, Hayden looked very satisfied.

But he showed absolutely no intention of leaving.

Instead, he casually mentioned wanting to stay in Orlando a little longer and look around.

When Finn heard that, he became ridiculously excited.

He immediately announced that he was bringing his mate, Arwen, over too so they could all hang out together.

The second I heard that, I flatly stated, “Then I’m leaving.”

Finn instantly panicked.

“Please don’t! Hayden specifically said you can’t leave. What if he changes his mind about the investment after you go?”

I stayed silent.

Seeing that I wasn’t budging, Finn gritted his teeth and raised the offer again.

“How about this? I’ll increase your salary by ten percent.”
